Job summary

Allgon, based in Gothenburg, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the R&D Hardware team. You will develop and maintain mechanical designs across our product portfolio, working hands-on with product innovation, design improvements, and problem-solving to meet high standards of performance, durability, and compliance.

You will collaborate with R&D, production, and product management, reporting to the Manager R&D Hardware.

Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with mechanical design for embedded systems is preferred.
  • Fluent in English; Swedish skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain mechanical designs for products.
  • Drive mechanical design work within development projects.
  • Lead investigation and root-cause analysis for mechanical deviations and maintenance issues.
  • Evaluate existing tech and propose improvements.
  • Assess new technologies within the mechanical field.
  • Support NPI activities including first builds and debugging.
  • Execute design testing of mechanical components.
  • Plan and carry out mechanical compliance testing.

About The Role

We are growing our R&D team and are looking for dedicated Mechanical Engineers to join us. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of the mechanical design across our product portfolio. You will work hands‑on with product innovation, design improvements, and problem‑solving, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards in performance, durability, and compliance.

You will be part of the R&D Hardware team, working cross‑functionally and collaborating with colleagues in R&D, production, and product management.

The position is based in Gothenburg and reports to the Manager R&D Hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain mechanical designs for our products.
  • Drive mechanical design work within assigned development projects.
  • Lead investigation and root‑cause analysis for mechanical product deviations and maintenance issues.
  • Evaluate existing technology and product functionality, proposing improvements where needed.
  • Assess and explore new technologies within the mechanical field.
  • Support NPI activities, including first builds and debugging.
  • Execute design testing of mechanical components.
  • Plan, set up, and carry out mechanical compliance testing.
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for both junior and senior engineers with a strong interest in mechanical engineering and a solid technical understanding. Whether you are early in your career or bring several years of experience, you are a proactive team player who takes initiative, enjoys hands‑on work, and collaborates effectively both independently and across cross‑functional teams. You approach complex challenges with a structured, analytical, and solution‑oriented mindset. Your communication skills enable you to contribute clearly in a dynamic environment and support sound technical decision‑making.

Key Qualifications
  • MSc or BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience in mechanical design for embedded systems.
  • Experience with one or more of the following areas is an advantage:
    • Injection molding
    • Chemical regulations
    • LVD
    • Functional safety
    • Sustainability
    • Electronics
    • Mechanical testing, IP ratings, drop testing, etc.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks and Jira is meritorious.
  • Fluent in English, Swedish skills are a plus.
