Job summary

Allgon is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join our R&D Hardware team in Gothenburg. You will take ownership of electronic design activities across our product portfolio, from concept and development to maintenance and compliance, including board design, testing, and NPI support.

The role suits both junior and senior engineers with a solid technical mindset who communicate well in English. English is required; Swedish language skills are a plus in our cross‑functional environment.

Qualifications

  • MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in electronic design for embedded systems.
  • Proficiency with Altium; Jira and Z2data are meritorious.
  • Experience in radio design, chemical compliance, functional safety, LVD or EMC is advantageous.
  • Fluent in English; Swedish skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electronic designs, including schematics, ECAD work, and PCB layouts.
  • Drive electronic and PCB design activities within assigned projects.
  • Lead investigations and root‑cause analyses for hardware deviations and maintenance issues.
  • Evaluate technologies, components, and design solutions to ensure product functionality and performance.
  • Support NPI activities, including first builds and debugging.
  • Perform hardware design testing.
  • Plan, set up, and carry out compliance and verification testing.

About the Role

We are growing our R&D team and are looking for dedicated Hardware Engineers to join us. As a Hardware Engineer, you will take ownership of electronic design activities across our product portfolio, from concept and development to maintenance and compliance. You will be deeply involved in circuit board design, testing, and troubleshooting, while also supporting New Product Introduction (NPI).

You will be part of the R&D Hardware team, working cross‑functionally and collaborating with colleagues in R&D, production, and product management throughout the product lifecycle.

The position is based in Gothenburg and reports to the Manager R&D Hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain electronic designs, including schematics, ECAD work, and PCB layouts

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for both junior and senior engineers with a strong interest in hardware engineering and a solid technical understanding. Whether you are early in your career or bring several years of experience, you are a proactive team player who takes initiative, collaborates effectively both independently and across cross‑functional teams, and approaches complex challenges with a structured and analytical mindset. Your communication skills enable you to contribute clearly in a dynamic environment and support sound technical decision‑making.

Key qualifications include:

  • MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience in electronic design for embedded systems
  • Proficiency with Altium; familiarity with Jira and Z2data is meritorious
  • Experience within one or more of the following areas is an advantage:
    • Radio design
    • Chemical compliance
    • Functional safety
    • LVD
    • EMC
  • Fluent in English, Swedish skills are a plus
