Job summary

Sharkmob in Malmö, Sweden seeks a senior engineer for the Core Systems team to advance the game engine features and performance in Unreal 5. You will guide teammates, own critical tasks, and deliver robust engine work across PC and consoles.

You bring strong C++ and concurrency skills, deep CPU/GPU knowledge, and experience shipping PC/console titles. Bonus: Unreal Engine and modern rendering pipelines.

Qualifications

Job description

The role

The Core Systems team at Sharkmob is responsible for the features and performance of the game engine we’re using – Unreal 5. We are now looking to add a new team member with experience in game engine development.

The team

As a senior engineer on the team, you’re comfortable guiding others through your thought process and explaining how and why a particular solution does or does not work. You showcase a strong ability to find work that needs to be done, and to carry it out all the way to completion, and you can prioritize work according to the needs of the project and the vision for the product.

Responsibilities

Some examples of what the team will be doing:

  • Multi-platform development
  • Improve performance and stability of our game
  • Implement performance benchmarking
  • Implement and adapt rendering features, such as modern lighting techniques, that support our game’s goals for visual fidelity
  • Find, diagnose, understand and fix crashes in low level systems
  • Collaborate across domains, improving for example tooling and build system
  • Promote and facilitate technical excellence across the organization
  • Engine maintenance and update integrations
Requirements
  • Excellent mastery of C++ programming and concurrency
  • Contributed significantly throughout the full development cycle, from pre-production to live, for at least one game on PC and console
  • In-depth understanding of CPU and GPU architecture
  • Exceptional skill in designing, implementing, improving upon, and working in a feature-rich game engine
  • PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X development

You are committed to high technical standards as well as contributing to a good workplace for yourself and the team around you. You work with purpose, and colleagues in other disciplines are appreciative of your ability to communicate and collaborate effectively.

It’s great if you also have experience in:

  • Working with Unreal Engine
  • Working on competitive games with high framerate
  • Shader programming
  • Physics programming
  • Experience working with modern rendering pipelines (such as DirectX 12/Vulkan)
