Job summary

Electronic Arts' Battlefield Studios in Stockholm is seeking a Physics Engineer to enhance real-time physics systems across platforms.

You will report to the Tech Lead and collaborate with teammates to optimize collisions, ragdoll, and rigid body dynamics, aiming for 60+ FPS on PC, console, and mobile, within a diverse, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years creating real-time physics for games or interactive apps.
  • Experience with C++ and physics engines is essential.
  • Strong profiling and optimization for 60+ FPS.

Responsibilities

  • Improve physics system scalability across PC, console, and mobile.
  • Diagnose CPU bottlenecks and profile memory for smooth 60+ FPS.
  • Tune collision detection and rigid body dynamics for realism.
  • Collaborate with animators and game designers to fix physics issues.

As a Physics Engineer, you will report to the team Tech Lead and work with our talented team to improve the realism and scalability of physics systems across world-renowned franchises. You will collaborate with us to deliver immersive gameplay experiences for millions of players, supporting our commitment to creativity, inclusivity, and positive play. You will report into a Technical Lead.

Responsibilities
  • You will improve physics system scalability to support multiple platforms, including PC, console, and mobile.
  • You will diagnose CPU bottlenecks and profile memory to ensure physics calculations run smoothly at 60+ FPS for seamless gameplay.
  • You will tunecollision detection, ragdoll physics, and rigid body dynamics so objects and characters behave realistically in our games.
  • You will use profiling tools to analyze and fix physics glitches, collaborating with animators and game designers to enhance gameplay.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience developing real-time physics systems for games or interactive applications.
  • Experience with C++ and physics engines such asChaos,Havok, PhysX, Bullet, or proprietary solutions.
  • Experience diagnosing performance issues and improving physics calculations for games running at 60+ FPS.
  • Strong skills in performance and memory profiling and trace analysis using PIX or similar tools.
  • Frostbite knowledge is a plus
  • Experience shipping games on multiple platforms is a plus
