Network Technician – AWS Infrastructure Services
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.
You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while enabling seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
We are looking to hire a Network Technician to join our team within network infrastructure deployment. You will work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the expansion of our next‑generation networks. You should be highly autonomous, detail oriented, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and have experience supporting large‑scale, enterprise‑class networks.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Scaling support of several data center locations.
- Responsible for day‑to‑day assistance with capacity management.
- Work closely with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate fast, smooth rollout of established designs and products.
- Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Troubleshoot cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.
- Participate in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
- Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking is completed for new equipment.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant certification, combined with hands‑on experience in networking deployment and cabling infrastructure best practices.
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure technologies including routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with network cabling standards, optic types, and testing tools such as VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
- Very good command of English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Comfortable working on small to medium, and slightly complex projects in ambiguous environments; strong prioritization, time management, and analytical judgment under pressure.
- Solid understanding of Ethernet, IP networking, and fabric‑based network design; experience in large‑scale data center network implementations and virtualized enterprise environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and support background, familiar with network cabling, optic types, and test equipment (VFL, power meter, OTDR).
- Awareness or knowledge of IT best practice frameworks such as ITIL, LEAN, AGILE, and Operational Excellence principles.
- Comfortable working directly with customers during problem resolution; able to travel within the region, with occasional travel beyond traditional work areas.
