Job summary

The European Spallation Source (ESS) is seeking an IT Helpdesk technician to join its on-site team in Lund, Sweden. You will resolve incidents and service requests, deploy laptops and devices, and support a wide range of hardware and software across the ESS campus.

With at least 2 years in IT support, you will work both independently and with colleagues, contributing to knowledge bases and maintaining thorough documentation. This full-time role includes a 6-month probation period.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in IT Support and IT service desk.
• Experience providing IT Support to users in a larger company.
• Practical experience with Windows- and macOS-based laptops and workstations; Linux is an advantage.
• Experience in advanced hardware troubleshooting of laptops/workstations.
• Experience supporting specialized workstations is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge in Mac OS, Windows, iOS and Linux distributions.
• Experience with meeting room support and troubleshooting (Crestron- and Poly control systems).
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
• Experience contributing to knowledge bases and technical documentation.
• Proven ability to communicate technical matters clearly to users with different levels of technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Support users directly at the IT service desk, remotely or by phone.
• Manage and resolve service requests and incidents in the case management system.
• Deploy and configure laptops and mobile devices and manage replacements.
• Install and configure workstations used across the ESS site.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems.
• Troubleshoot OS and driver issues.
• Troubleshoot user accounts, passwords, permissions and access issues.
• Troubleshoot basic network-related problems.
• Troubleshoot meeting room equipment and connections.
• Handle IT assets and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with the team and other functions to solve issues.
