Job summary

Tata Technologies, Gothenburg, is seeking a Design Engineer for Hood & Fender Systems to own exterior design, surface appearance, and manufacturing interfaces. You will develop front exterior systems including hoods, fenders, hinges, and related solutions.

You will work across the full product development lifecycle in a cross‑functional team, collaborating with designers, engineers and suppliers to deliver safe, high‑quality vehicle components, applying knowledge of materials and joining methods.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education.
• Knowledge of mechanical joining methods such as hemming, clinching, and riveting.
• Understanding of material behaviour and product design principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Driver's Licence Category B is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of product design, surface appearance, attribute functions, and manufacturing requirements.

• Participate throughout the full product development lifecycle, from early concept phases to industrialization.

• Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to deliver effective system solutions.

We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer – Hood & Fender Systems to join our team.

Location: Gothenburg

What You'll Do

• Take ownership of product design, surface appearance, attribute functions, and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop front exterior systems including hoods, fenders, hinges, hood latch systems, horns, and supporting system solutions.
• Participate throughout the full product development lifecycle, from early concept phases to industrialization.
• Contribute to system design and product development within a cross‑functional engineering team.
• Follow verification activities and incorporate learnings from testing and production environments.
• Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to deliver effective system solutions.
• Support the development of solutions meeting requirements related to safety, design, aero, contamination, perceived quality, NVH, solidity, and manufacturing.

What You Bring

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education.
• Good knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of mechanical joining methods such as hemming, clinching, and riveting.
• Understanding of material behaviour and product design principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Structured working approach with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to understand design guidelines and product requirements and translate them into system solutions.
• Solution‑oriented mindset and willingness to contribute to team success.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Driver's Licence Category B is preferred.

Hands‑on Experience With

• CATIA V5.
• Teamcenter.
• Engineering design and product development.
• Sheet metal design in aluminium and steel.
• Mechanical joining technologies including hemming, clinching, and riveting.
• Verification activities and production follow‑up.

Nice to Have

• Experience with injection‑molded component design.
• Experience with polymer design.
