Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions / Data Center Solutions is hiring a Data Center Shift Technician to resolve day-to-day work orders and ensure timely completion in a 24/7/365 environment. The role is part of the Critical and Technical Services function and focuses on maintaining critical data center infrastructure, safety compliance, and collaboration with the management team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1–2 years of related experience.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs+ and perform physical tasks.
  • Be able to work in a rotational day/night shift with unsociable hours.

About the Role:

As a CBRE Data Center Shift Technician, you will resolve and complete day-to-day work orders to meet client satisfaction targets and ensure completion in the time frame required in 24/7/365 operations.

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

Tasks

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain an up-to-date log of work completed and outstanding items through the in-house system.
  • Ensure that all contractors and staff comply with all company, client safety, and security requirements.
  • Participate in the critical services training program.
  • Ensure effective communication with the client and management team is maintained.
  • Operate as a team with other technicians by sharing expertise and experience to help resolve operational problems.
  • Provide holiday, training & sickness cover for other members of the shift team.
  • Track and complete Critical Services Planned Preventative Maintenance and provide condition assessments of plant and equipment.
  • Log and action all out-of-line situations with incident reports.
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
  • Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
  • Support Service Management and related processes (e.g., Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, approving, and closing associated assigned tickets.
  • Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are always prepared and used for all tasks ensuring safe work practices.
  • Follow basic work routines and standards in application of work.
  • Learn new technologies and expand and share this knowledge.
Requirements

What You’ll Need:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to work in a rotational shift pattern consisting of day and night shifts which include unsociable working hours.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
