Job summary

Gulf Cryo in Dammam seeks a Trading / Specialty Gas Manager to lead trading, sourcing, and commercial management of Specialty Gases across assigned markets. This role covers rare gases and calibration gases, ensuring supply security and strategy execution.

You will own the trading strategy and full P&L, drive volume and revenue growth, set pricing and contracts with major customers and suppliers, and oversee safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across the supply chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• 10–12 years of experience in industrial/specialty gases, chemicals, or commodity trading.
• Minimum 5 years in trading, sourcing, or commercial leadership with P&L ownership.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills with knowledge of global rare/specialty gas markets.
• Proficiency in trading and ERP systems.

The Trading / Specialty Gas Manager is responsible for the trading, sourcing, and commercial management of the Specialty Gases business (rare and high-purity gases such as helium, neon, krypton, xenon, hydrogen, calibration and electronic gas mixtures) across assigned markets. The role owns supply security and trading strategy, price risk management, cylinder/packaged gas commercial growth, and customer relationship management across specialty gas customer segments (electronics/semiconductor, healthcare, laboratories, research, laser and analytical applications).

Trading Strategy & Business Leadership

• Define and execute the specialty gas trading and business strategy, aligned with regional/global business objectives.
• Own the full P&L for the specialty gas trading line, including revenue growth, margin management, and cost control.
• Identify new trading opportunities, customer segments, and geographic expansion for specialty and rare gases.
• Lead capital and inventory investment proposals for cylinder fleets, storage assets, and specialty gas fill/purification infrastructure.

Trading, Sourcing & Commercial Management

• Drive volume and revenue growth across new and existing specialty gas trading accounts.
• Oversee pricing strategy, trading contract negotiation, and renewal for major specialty gas customers and suppliers.
• Build and maintain relationships with key accounts, global suppliers, distributors, and strategic trading partners.
• Monitor global rare gas market dynamics, competitor activity, and pricing trends to inform trading and hedging decisions.

Supply Chain & Risk Management

• Ensure reliable, safe, and cost-effective sourcing, purification, filling, and distribution of specialty and rare gases (cylinder fleet, fill plants, purity/QC monitoring).
• Optimize sourcing and logistics network (import/export routing, cylinder fleet utilization, third-party carrier and freight-forwarder management) to reduce landed costs while maintaining service levels.
• Manage relationships with production plants, upstream suppliers, and trading counterparties to ensure supply continuity and mitigate shortage risk.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, digital inventory and trade-flow monitoring) across the trading and supply chain.

Safety, Quality & Trade Compliance

• Champion a strong safety culture across all specialty gas operations, including cylinder handling, filling, transport, and customer site delivery (HSE compliance).
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements for specialty/rare gas handling, cross-border trading, export controls, and storage.
• Oversee quality management systems and audits (ISO, purity specifications, customer-specific standards).
• Lead, mentor, and develop the specialty gas trading team across sales, sourcing, operations, and customer service functions.
• Set performance objectives, conduct reviews, and build succession plans for key roles.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration with bulk gases, engineering, legal/trade compliance, and corporate functions.
• Prepare and manage the annual trading budget, price/volume forecasts, and monthly business performance reviews.
• Report trading performance, market risks, and opportunities to regional/global leadership.
• Ensure robust financial controls, trading/counterparty credit management, and receivables discipline.

Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

Experience

Minimum 10-12 years of experience in industrial/specialty gases, chemicals, or commodity trading, including at least 5 years in a trading, sourcing, or commercial leadership role; proven track record managing rare/specialty gas supply chains, cross-border trade, and P&L ownership.
