Job summary

The role requires strong Laravel/PHP expertise, testing discipline, and experience with cloud infra. You will collaborate with product, design, and operations to maintain performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science.
• 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering high-traffic, mission-critical platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Laravel/PHP backend systems and testing practices.
• Familiarity with AWS/GCP, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical leader for the squad, owning system design and engineering standards.
• Lead scalable, reliable backend solutions and contribute hands-on when needed.
• Review code, guide architectural decisions, and ensure testing/documentation quality.
• Mentor engineers, foster ownership and continuous improvement.
• Own end-to-end execution from planning to production and collaborate with Product/Design.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Act as the technical leader for your squad, owning system design, code quality, and engineering standards.
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.
• Contribute hands-on to the codebase when needed, especially for complex or high-impact areas.
• Review code, guide architectural decisions, and ensure best practices in testing, documentation, and observability.
• Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term system health and sustainability.

Team Enablement

• Lead, mentor, and support software engineers, helping them grow technically and professionally.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Support onboarding and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Provide clear technical direction while empowering engineers to make strong decisions.

Execution & Collaboration

• Own end-to-end execution for your team’s deliverables, from planning to production.
• Work closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Ensure alignment between product priorities, technical execution, and platform standards.
• Act as the first point of escalation for technical or delivery challenges within your team.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure production readiness, performance, and reliability of owned services.
• Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-mortems.
• Continuously improve development workflows, tooling, and team productivity.
• Leverage AI and automation where possible to improve engineering efficiency and product quality.

Key Skills

• Deep expertise in Laravel/PHP backend systems, with experience designing scalable, maintainable, and high-performance platforms.
• Solid knowledge of software development best practices, including code quality, testing, documentation, and observability.
• Deep understanding of large-scale, high-performance platforms, including SQL/NoSQL, caching, and concurrency.
• Strong strategic and operational planning skills, balancing short-term delivery with long-term system sustainability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (fluent English speaking and writing).
• Experience in Scrum and Agile methodology
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments is a plus.

• 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience delivering high-traffic, mission-critical platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects or technical thought leadership is a plus.
