Job summary

Fakeeh Care Group in Riyadh is seeking a certified sterilization technician to manage surgical instruments and equipment. The role includes sorting, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments in accordance with safety standards and regulatory compliance.

We require a dedicated professional with a Bachelor’s degree in health science and previous experience in a complex clinical environment. The ideal candidate will excel at attention to detail and have excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year as a certified sterilization technician in a clinically complex tertiary centre.
• Knowledge of performance improvement processes and international standards.
• Excellent command of oral and written English.

Description

• Decontamination:
  • Receives, sorts and inspects used surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  • Manually cleans instruments with appropriate detergents and disinfectants.
  • Operates and maintains decontamination equipment such as ultrasonic cleaners, washers and disinfectors.
  • Assembles surgical instrument sets and packages them for sterilization, ensuring proper wrapping, labeling and documentation.
  • Inspects instruments for damage or wear and reports any issues to the line manager.
• Sterilization:
  • Operates sterilizers (e.g., autoclaves) according to manufacturer guidelines and Fakeeh Care policies.
  • Monitors and documents sterilization cycles, including time, temperature and pressure parameters.
  • Performs routine biological, chemical and mechanical monitoring tests to ensure effective sterilization.
• Storage and Distribution:
  • Stores sterilized instruments and supplies in designated areas, maintaining proper rotation and inventory control.
  • Distributes sterilized instruments and equipment to operating rooms, clinics and other departments as required.
  • Maintains accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory levels.
• Quality Control and Safety:
  • Adheres to infection control and safety protocols to prevent cross‑contamination.
  • Participates in regular equipment maintenance, calibration and performance checks, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions, incidents or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards, including Joint Commission, OSHA and facility‑specific policies.
  • Maintains accurate records of sterilization processes, inventory management and quality control measures.
• Professional Development and Continuous Improvement:
  • Stays updated on advancements in sterilization techniques and technologies through ongoing education and training.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Attends all mandatory training as scheduled and demonstrates compassionate communication skills while providing support and care to patients and staff.

• Licenses / Certifications

  License from the country of origin; license for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority (e.g., SCFHS / DHA); BLS, ACLS and other LSTC courses as applicable.
