Job summary

Vanderlande seeks a Site Electrical Supervisor Eng to oversee electrical installations and controls commissioning on small projects. You will lead a team on site, ensure safety, quality, and timely handovers, and maintain project documentation.

You will train technicians, coordinate with procurement and subcontractors, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring Vanderlande standards are met across all activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in material handling projects with controls commissioning and/or electrical site supervision.
  • Knowledge of electromechanical components, cabinets, and field wiring.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, layouts and project schedules.
  • Experience with LLC/Low Level Control commissioning for I/O tests and mechanical run tests.

Responsibilities

  • Install supervision: organize and supervise on-site electrical activities per project schedule.
  • Lead controls activities: PLC/SCADA programming, wiring checks, and safety validation.
  • Provide guidance to installation team, ensure Vanderlande processes are followed.
  • Enforce safety culture and conduct on-site HSE activities.
  • Perform surveying for startup readiness and site facilities checks.
  • Maintain quality through site walks and Vanderlande standard checks.
  • Report progress to site manager; coordinate with subcontractors and procurement.
  • Support continuous improvement and train junior technicians.
  • Coordinate handover to commissioning and testing teams; manage documentation.
  • Handle changes (RFIs) and update redline drawings for O&M.

Job Description

About Role

As a Controls & Electrical Supervisor at Vanderlande, you will be playing a dynamic role in which you will oversee electrical equipment installations and controls commissioning activities for small project sites. Leading a team, safety and quality are paramount, with your strong on-site presence ensuring project success. You will handle pre-commissioning, integration coordination, and testing support, facilitating smooth site handovers.

Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in training technicians and maintaining essential project documentation, contributing to team growth and quality project execution.

Responsibilities

< > Installation Supervision :Organize and supervise onsite electrical activities like Installation, Testing & Commissioning of electrical components including power distribution, control panels, wirings etc. for Vanderlande material handling projects in line with the project schedule and following the agreed sequence.Contribute to creating electrical installation schedule, Review electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements and electrical codes.

Controls Activities

< >Install PLC/HMI’s. Download OT Software’s for all controllers and validate correct function of safety & control cabinets.Execute & support Pre-commissioning activities like I/O Checks, Interface test with SCADA, Field Wiring Test after power On, Mechanical Running Test (MRT).Execute or Support commissioning activities (Functionality, capacity, requirements).Execute minor changes in OT Program & perform controls troubleshooting.Support Integration, Site testing, as-built documentation, perform snagging and rectification.

Guidance

< >Delegate responsibilities and provide clear instructions to the onsite installation team of electrical technicians/subcontractors, ensuring that all installation work complies with quality standards and strictly adheres to Vanderlande processes.

Safety Focus

  • Create safe working environment by fostering a culture of safety among installations teams throughout the project execution.
  • Organize all HSE related activities on site.

Surveying

Conduct feasibility surveys for installation areas. Check readiness & facilities required for installation as a part of preparation for “Startup Installation.”

Quality Control

Leading by example, maintain a strong onsite presence through regular site walks and a thorough quality checks in alignment with Vanderlande standards.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Monitor team’s progress and regularly report on work progress to the site manager.
  • Ensure effective coordination with subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with procurement team to coordinate the timely delivery of electrical materials and equipment’s.
  • Coordinate installation and integration of 3rd party equipment’s like Screening machines, Tag Readers, weighing scales etc.
  • Document all installation activities, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports for project management.
  • Manage change orders & RFIs, maintain red line drawings for O&M

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for improvement of site management process and support continuous enhancement efforts.
  • Assume responsibility for training new technicians to enhance their skills, fostering ongoing team improvement, and promoting the core value of “Everyday Better” through lessons learned.

Support Activities

  • Organize and facilitate all support activities to ensure a smooth high-quality handover to commissioning and support commissioning & testing teams until handover to the customer.
  • Support site logistic management by organizing proper unloading and other related activities.

Desired Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in executing material handling projects in controls commissioning and (or) electrical site supervision for installations.
  • Has knowledge of electromechanical components, cabinets, and field wirings.
  • Ability to comprehend engineering drawings, specifications, layouts, and effectively interpret project and logistics schedules.
  • Ability to understand & modify LLC code in relevant platforms (Siemens S7 Series)
  • Knowledge of diverse types of Switch gears, Drives & Experience of I/O testing.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electromechanical issues and taking proactive measures to resolve them.
  • Experience in executing / supporting LLC (Low Level Control) commissioning for I/O tests and Mechanical Run Tests, including cabinet functionality.
  • Possess conceptual knowledge of PLC systems (Siemens), different type of hardware’s,

Communication protocols (Profinet, Ethernet, Profibus, ASI).

  • Hand on experience with AutoCAD, Navis and E. Plan drawing would be advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

Travel

This position may require travel to project sites as necessary for project execution and support.
