Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Shop/Plan Operator-Intermediate in Saudi Arabia to support the assembly and service of high-quality rotating equipment. You will inspect, repair, balance, and test rotor components for centrifugal compressors, pumps, turbines, and gears, while maintaining quality and HSE standards.

You will work across milling and balancing equipment, participate in lean initiatives, and adapt to 2-3 shift patterns with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required with hands-on experience operating mechanical machines.
• Knowledge and experience to perform inspections, repairs, balancing and testing of centrifugal compressors and centrifugal pumps and gas turbines.
• 5+ years experience in repair activities of rotating equipment (centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, gas turbines or gearboxes).
• Experience in compressor rotor or pump rotor de-stacking (disassembly by flare) and stacking (assembly) and Gas Turbine Rotor Disks de-stacking and stacking.
• Experience implementing total run-out tests is preferred.
• Ability to operate a LATHE machine (Manual or CNC) is preferred.
• Ability to operate Low Speed Horizontal Balancing Machines and perform balancing to remove residual unbalance.
• Ability to operate Vertical Balancing Machines and perform balancing to remove residual unbalance is preferred.
• Experience in Machining is preferred.
• Shop operative in morning shifts with ability to work 2-3 shifts and overtime.
• Display mechanical aptitude or enthusiasm to learn in a hands-on environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to be a valuable team player.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting and repairing activities for rotating equipment (centrifugal compressors rotors, centrifugal pumps rotors, gas turbine rotors, gears shafts).
• Performing visual and geometrical inspections, non-destructive testing and recording results per data sheets.
• Quality control of in-process parts; inspect after operation and record results in data sheets.
• Performing product preservation per procedures.
• Raising HSE concerns/observations per HSE targets.
• Conducting machine tool preventive maintenance and daily maintenance checklists.
• Reporting fixture and tooling performance and testing methods; evaluating new fixtures and clamping.
• Carrying out 6S and housekeeping for machines, workstations and surroundings; contribute to lean manufacturing projects.

As a Shop Operator, under direct supervision, you will set up, monitor and operates various piece of equipment associated with the service and manufacturing facility requirements. May include operation of multiple machines at one time. May perform quality control and assurance activities as required by manufacturing/engineering specifications, internal procedures and ISO requirements.

As a Service Shop Operator, you will be responsible for:

• Inspecting and Repairing activities for Centrifugal Compressors Rotors, Centrifugal Pumps Rotors, Gas Turbine Rotors, and Gears Shafts.

• Performing visual inspection, geometrical inspection, non-destructive testing, and other tests & record results as per requirements and data sheets.

• Being responsible for quality control of the in process parts. Where all parts under operations needs to be inspected after the operation is completed and results to be recorded in the data sheets

• Performing product preservation as per procedures.

• Raising HSE concerns/observations as per the HSE per capita target

• Conducting machine tool preventive maintenance & conduct daily maintenance checklist.

• Reporting out fixture and toolings performance and rigidity evaluation as well as testing of new fixture design and clamping method.

• Performing 6S and housekeeping activities for the machines (interior & exterior), workstations, and its surrounding and participate in improvement project and implementation of lean Manufacturing

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a High School Diploma or equivalent level of education and hands on-experience in operating mechanical machines

• Have knowledge and experience to perform several types of inspections, repairs, Balancing, and testing of centrifugal compressors and centrifugal pumps and gas turbines

• Have +5 years experience in repair activities of rotating equipment (centrifugal compressors, or centrifugal pumps or gas turbines or gearboxes)

• Have Experience in compressor rotor, or pumps rotor de-stacking (disassembly by flare) and stacking (Assembly) or Gas Turbine Rotor Disks de-stacking (disassembly) and stacking (Assembly)

• Have experience to implement total run out test is preferred

• Have capability, knowledge and skill to operate a LATHE Machine (Manual or CNC) is preferred

• Have capability, knowledge and skill to operate Low Speed Horizontal Balancing Machines, performing balancing check, and performing balancing activities to remove residual unbalance

• Have capability, knowledge and skill to operate Vertical Balancing Machines, performing balancing check, and performing balancing activities to remove residual unbalance is preferred

• Experience in Machining is preferred

• The shop will be initially operative during morning shifts only. However, the candidate needs to be able to work in a 2-3 shift patter and work overtime if needed

• Display a mechanical aptitude or an enthusiasm to learn and develop your skill set in a hands‑on environment

• Have excellent communication skills and the ability to be a valuable team player
