Job summary

ACWA Power seeks a Chemist for the plant operations who will conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses and experiments for quality control and process development. The role requires close adherence to safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental guidelines.

The successful candidate will maintain laboratory records, support start-up/shutdown activities, and prepare periodic reports. Minimum 5 years in related field and degrees in chemistry are expected, with ISO/OHSAS awareness

Qualifications

• Educational qualifications include a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry as a minimum and a Master Degree in Chemistry preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in related field is expected.
• Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management System principles.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements, Hazard Risk Assessment, Aspect Impact Assessment, and environmental/health impacts of chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain all records related to plant chemistry.
• Coordinate with Shift Charge Engineer during unit start-up/shutdown and normal running.
• Carry out quality inspection of chemicals received in the plant.
• Prepare monthly reports pertaining to the area under supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Roles amp Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and regulations


• Be fully aware of the safety hazards in the plant


• Familiarise with regulatory requirements pertaining to environmental compliance


• chemicals used in the plant

• SOPs


• Work Instructions as well as emergency operation procedures and any other related documents


• Maintain all records related to plant chemistry


• Responsible for all laboratory activities including chemical sampling and analysis pertaining to the plant and ensure all related parameters are within limits


• Coordinate with Shift Charge Engineer Supervisor during unit start-up shutdown and normal running of the plant and maintain the chemistry under his control in round-the-clock shifts


• Carry out quality inspection of all chemicals received in the plant


• Make preparations and carry out acid cleaning of Desalination plants and Hypo plants under the supervision of the Chief Chemist whenever required


• Responsible for housekeeping of laboratory equipment and spillages


• Carry out troubleshooting in chemical dosing systems and laboratory equipment and follow up day-to-day maintenance as per defect reports


• Maintain chemical consumption records and coordinate with stores


• Monitor all chemical parameters and enter periodic readings on log sheets


• Summarize all activities events that took place during the shift in the log book


• Prepare monthly reports and other reports pertaining to the area under his supervision


• Perform other duties as assigned
