Job description

A leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an accomplished Senior Technical Manager to join their Riyadh-based leadership team, supporting the delivery of one of Saudi Arabia’s most high-profile giga projects. This is a critical senior role within the contractor’s technical and design leadership function, responsible for managing complex multidisciplinary design delivery from pre-construction through to construction and handover.

• Lead and manage the full technical and design function for a major landmark giga project from pre-construction through to delivery.
• Provide strategic technical leadership across architectural, structural, MEP, façade, and specialist design disciplines.
• Oversee consultant design teams, ensuring deliverables meet contractual requirements, client expectations, statutory approvals, and construction feasibility.
• Act as the primary technical interface between client, consultants, internal engineering teams, procurement, and construction operations.
• Manage the design program, technical submissions, approvals, RFIs, value engineering, and design change processes.
• Ensure designs are coordinated, buildable, compliant with Saudi codes and international standards, and aligned with commercial and programme objectives.
• Support tendering, procurement, and early contractor involvement activities with robust technical input.
• Drive design risk management, technical compliance, and quality assurance across all project stages.
• Lead and mentor design and engineering managers, fostering a best‑practice technical culture within the project team.
• Provide senior‑level technical input to executive reporting, client meetings, and critical decision‑making forums.
• Minimum 20+ years’ experience across the design and construction industry.
• Degree qualified in Architecture (strongly preferred) or a related design/engineering discipline.
• Must have experience working for design consultancies AND major main contractors on high value projects.
• Demonstrated experience in Engineering Manager or Design Manager roles on large‑scale & high-value, complex projects.
• Strong track record delivering complex, multi‑disciplinary building projects, ideally large mixed‑use, commercial, residential, or mega‑developments.
• Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the wider Middle East is highly desirable.
• Excellent understanding of design management within EPC / design‑and‑build contracting environments.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to operate at client and executive level.
• Experience working on high‑profile flagship or giga projects is a significant advantage.
