Job summary

Duruper in Saudi Arabia seeks an experienced Protection & Control Specialist to perform technical assessments of substation protection and control systems, including numerical relays and protection panels. The role emphasizes relay settings, coordination, fault records, scheme logic and compliance with IEC/IEEE standards.

You will review testing, protection performance, and recommended upgrades. A minimum of 10 years in transmission protection with OMICRON testing experience and HV/EHV schemes

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in transmission protection and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of numerical relays and HV/EHV protection schemes.
• Hands-on experience with line, transformer, busbar, distance and differential protection.
• Knowledge of relay setting calculations, protection coordination and fault analysis.
• Experience in relay testing using OMICRON or equivalent testing equipment.
• Good understanding of IEC 61850, scheme logic, CT/VT circuits and substation control systems.
• Ability to analyze disturbance records, event logs and protection system performance.
• OEM relay certifications from Siemens, GE, Hitachi Energy or Schneider Electric are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct condition assessments of protection panels, electromechanical, solid-state and numerical relays.
• Evaluate protection schemes for transformers, lines, busbars, distance and differential protection.
• Review relay settings and coordination for selectivity and backup protection.
• Inspect CT/VT circuits, DC supplies, interlocking and control logic.
• Analyze event and disturbance records and fault data.
• Review end-to-end testing and protection scheme performance.
• Assess protection system obsolescence and setting governance.
• Recommend testing, setting updates, retrofits and improvements.
• Prepare technical assessment reports and corrective action recommendations.
