Job summary

Devoteam is seeking a Smart City Application Architect to lead design and development of digital applications for smart city services in Riyadh. The role requires architecting enterprise and citizen-facing solutions across platforms and urban domains, with focus on scalable, secure, API-driven architectures.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in software engineering, CS, or related field.
• 8+ years in software development and application architecture.
• 3+ years designing or delivering smart city or large public sector apps.
• Proficient in microservices, RESTful APIs, containerization and DevOps.
• Knowledge of open standards (OASC, NGSI, FIWARE, ISO 37120).
• Experience with mobile/web tech, platform integration, UX alignment.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly.
• Bilingual Arabic and English is desirable.
• TOGAF/AWS/Azure/Google Cloud architecture certs welcomed.
• Experience in smart mobility, digital twins, or e-government platforms.
• Understanding of user journey mapping and human-centered design.

Responsibilities

• Design architecture for smart city services across mobility, utilities, public safety, environment, and citizen engagement.
• Define architectural patterns and development standards for scalable, interoperable, and secure apps.
• Collaborate with solution architects, developers, UX designers, and data teams to deliver integrated digital solutions.
• Ensure seamless integration with smart city platforms, IoT systems, and third‑party APIs.
• Lead modernization, microservices adoption, and containerization for legacy urban apps where required.
• Contribute to service blueprints and digital experience flows.
• Support development teams by reviewing designs, conducting technical assessments, and troubleshooting integration challenges.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, cybersecurity requirements, and accessibility standards.
• Document and maintain architectural deliverables like solution diagrams, API specs, and system interfaces.
