DAR AL RIYADH is seeking an experienced Safety & Environmental Inspector to monitor health, safety and environmental compliance at dam sites and water facilities across Saudi Arabia. You will conduct inspections of construction, operation, maintenance and repair activities, identify unsafe acts and follow up on corrective actions.
You will review safety plans, risk assessments and permit-to-work documentation, and prepare technical reports.
Monitor occupational health and safety and environmental activities at dam sites, water facilities and related project locations. Conduct regular inspections of construction, operation, maintenance and repair activities. Inspect safety equipment, personal protective equipment, access systems, emergency facilities and work areas for compliance with approved requirements. Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, environmental concerns and potential operational hazards. Issue safety observations, inspection findings and corrective-action recommendations. Follow up identified nonconformities and verify that corrective and preventive actions are implemented and closed within agreed timeframes. Review contractors' health, safety and environmental plans, risk assessments, method statements, emergency procedures and permit-to-work documentation. Monitor contractor compliance with approved safety plans, contractual obligations and applicable Saudi requirements. Integrate occupational health, safety and environmental requirements into project specifications, tender documents and O & M contracts. Participate in risk assessments, job-safety analyses, toolbox talks, pre-activity meetings and high-risk-work reviews. Monitor controls for confined-space entry, work at height, lifting operations, electrical work, excavation, hot work and equipment isolation. Support the safe planning and execution of dam inspections, gate and valve maintenance, electromechanical works and reservoir-related activities. Participate in incident, accident and near-miss investigations and assist in determining root causes and corrective actions. Monitor emergency preparedness and support drills covering flooding, fire, rescue, evacuation, equipment failure and other site emergencies. Develop and deliver site-safety induction programs, awareness campaigns, workshops and toolbox-training materials. Maintain safety inspection records, incident registers, training records and corrective-action trackers. Monitor safety performance indicators and identify recurring trends, high-risk activities and opportunities for improvement. Prepare clear daily, weekly, monthly, annual and technical reports as required by the assignment. Coordinate with government stakeholders, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. Attend meetings, inspections and site visits anywhere in Saudi Arabia as required. Comply with Saudi laws, applicable codes, client procedures, quality requirements and occupational health and safety obligations.
Bachelor s degree in Safety Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or an equivalent discipline from a recognized university. Minimum 16 years of professional experience in occupational safety, health and environmental work. Previous safety experience involving dams and associated facilities is required. Demonstrated experience inspecting construction, operation and maintenance activities in complex infrastructure environments. Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency preparedness and contractor-safety management. Experience reviewing safety plans, risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work documentation. Sound understanding of safety requirements associated with civil, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic works. Ability to prepare professional inspection reports, safety observations, incident reports and performance analyses. Relevant experience must be supported by verifiable employment records, project references, reports or studies when requested.
