Job summary

DAR AL RIYADH seeks a senior safety professional to oversee occupational health, safety and environmental activities across dam sites and water facilities in Saudi Arabia. You will conduct site inspections, review safety plans, and ensure contractor compliance with safety provisions and approved procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a safety discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 6 years of professional safety, health and environmental experience.
  • Experience monitoring construction, operations or maintenance in infra or industrial environments.
  • Ability to review risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work documentation.
  • Understanding of hazard identification and emergency response.
  • Experience inspecting activities, equipment and site conditions.
  • Verifiable employment references, project reports or studies on request.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor occupational health safety and environmental activities at dam sites, water facilities and project locations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of construction, operation, maintenance, repair and installation activities.
  • Inspect work areas, access arrangements, PPE, emergency facilities and safety equipment for compliance.
  • Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and potential hazards.
  • Issue site-safety observations and recommendations for corrective or preventive action.
  • Follow up contractors' corrective actions and verify closure within required timeframes.
  • Review safety plans, risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work documents.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with safety provisions and approved procedures.
  • Support integration of health, safety and environmental requirements into project specs and contracts.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, pre-activity meetings and risk assessments.
  • Monitor controls for high-risk activities including work at height, confined spaces, lifting, electrical work, excavation, hot work and isolation.
  • Support safe execution of dam inspections, gate and valve maintenance and reservoir works.
  • Report incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences; assist investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Monitor emergency-preparedness arrangements and drills.
  • Assist with safety inductions, campaigns, training programs and workshops.
  • Maintain safety-inspection records, incident registers and corrective-action trackers.
  • Compile safety performance data and monitor indicators like inspections and training completion.
  • Escalate serious hazards and repeated violations through approved channels.
  • Contribute to review and continuous improvement of safety procedures and emergency plans.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, annual and technical reports as required.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attend meetings, inspections and site visits across Saudi Arabia as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi laws, client procedures, quality requirements and HSE obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor occupational health safety and environmental activities at dam sites water facilities and associated project locations

  • Support the integration of occupational health safety and environmental requirements into project specifications tender documents and O amp M contracts
  • Participate in toolbox talks pre-activity meetings safety briefings and risk-assessment sessions
  • Monitor controls for high-risk activities including work at height confined-space entry lifting operations electrical work excavation hot work and equipment isolation
  • Support the safe execution of dam inspections gate and valve maintenance electromechanical activities and reservoir-related works
  • Report incidents accidents near misses and dangerous occurrences and assist with investigations and root-cause analysis
  • Monitor emergency-preparedness arrangements and participate in fire evacuation rescue flooding and emergency-response drills
  • Support the preparation and delivery of safety inductions awareness campaigns training programs and workshops
  • Maintain safety-inspection records observation reports incident registers training records and corrective-action trackers
  • Compile safety performance data and monitor indicators such as inspection findings incidents training completion and action closure
  • Escalate serious hazards repeated violations and imminent-danger situations through approved communication channels
  • Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of safety procedures emergency plans and site-control measures
  • Prepare clear daily weekly monthly annual and technical reports as required by the assignment
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders consultants contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Attend meetings inspections and site visits anywhere in Saudi Arabia as required
  • Comply with Saudi laws applicable codes Client procedures quality requirements and occupational health and safety obligations
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Safety Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or an equivalent discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in occupational safety, health and environmental work.
  • Experience monitoring construction, operations or maintenance activities in infrastructure or industrial environments.
  • Practical knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, incident reporting, emergency response and contractor-safety monitoring.
  • Experience inspecting work activities, safety equipment and site conditions.
  • Ability to review risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work documentation.
  • Understanding of safety requirements associated with civil, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic activities.
  • Ability to prepare inspection reports, safety observations and corrective-action records.
  • Relevant experience must be supported by verifiable employment records, project references, reports or studies when requested.
