Job summary

Jobgether is partnering with a company in Saudi Arabia to hire a Software Engineer (Edge - Devices & Mobile) with strong Rust expertise. You will build and scale a cross-platform device infrastructure across Windows, Android, and Linux, with plans to extend to macOS.

The role focuses on reliability, security, and performance across a globally distributed fleet. You will work on native integration, networking, and observability, collaborating with senior engineers and diverse teams to own

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional experience in Rust.
• Proven experience building cross-platform Rust applications on Windows/Android/Linux with one mobile platform.
• Strong understanding of OS internals, process management, and platform constraints.
• Hands-on experience with FFI and Rust/C++ integration incl. JNI/NDK, Win32, POSIX.
• Solid knowledge of TCP, TLS, HTTP, and network traffic analysis.
• Experience with async Rust, Tokio, and networking.
• Focus on reliability, observability, performance monitoring, and production operations.
• Excellent written communication and ability to collaborate in a remote-first team.
• Interest in reverse engineering, networking tech, and complex systems.
• Familiarity with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, mTLS, Chromium networking, Kubernetes, cloud infra is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a cross-platform Rust peer runtime for Windows, Android, Linux, with macOS in scope.
• Manage process lifecycles, background execution, networking, updates, and stability across diverse hardware.
• Lead platform expansion to Android devices using NDK and JNI, including foreground services and battery optimization.
• Integrate native networking technologies (Cronet and C++) into Rust libraries.
• Work with FFI and OS APIs ensuring safe memory management and cross-language interoperability.
• Collect hardware/OS signals (TCP, TLS, HTTP) to improve network realism for distributed fleets.
• Develop device-level observability and metrics for uptime, bandwidth, availability, and task success.
• Extend capabilities to support additional workloads while maintaining security boundaries.
• Participate in on-call rotations, investigate incidents, and improve deployment processes.
• Contribute to documentation, architecture proposals, and engineering standards.
