Job summary

Atkins Realis Group is seeking a Senior Public Health Engineer to lead design coordination and delivery of water supply, drainage, sewage, stormwater and specialist PH systems for complex building projects.

You will drive technical excellence, prepare specifications in CSI/NES formats, manage budgets and engage in multi-discipline workshops while coordinating with local authorities and clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of industry experience post qualification.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards membership of IPA, CIBSE, NFPA, etc.
• Significant experience in a design consultancy in the Middle East.
• Able to communicate technical concepts clearly in written and verbal form.

Responsibilities

• Lead design coordination and delivery of Public Health Systems for building projects.
• Prepare technical markups and sketches for BIM modelling and liaise with the BIM team.
• Represent Atkins at meetings with clients and contractors and liaise with authorities.
• Prepare design calculations and technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
• Manage own workload and project budgets; engage in multi-discipline workshops.
• Ensure QA/QC processes are incorporated into the design and review standard details.

Job description

The Senior Public Health Engineer is responsible for design coordination review and delivery of public health engineering systems for building projects. The role involves leading the design of water supply drainage sewage stormwater and specialist public health systems while ensuring compliance with local authority regulations international standards sustainability requirements and project objectives.

Your role

• To undertake Public Health Services GAS and Fire Protection systems design on international projects independently
• Preparing technical markups sketches for modelling by the BIM team
• Representing Atkins at meetings with Clients and Contractors
• Liaise with Local Statutory Authorities
• Technical Report writing
• Preparation of design calculations using industry-standard software
• Preparation of technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES
• Maintaining records and archives to company standards
• Manage own workload and workload of others
• Preparing and managing project budgets
• Engage in Multi-discipline coordination and workshops
• Ensure Quality Assurance Quality control processes have been incorporated into the design
• Raise enquiries during PHE Fire Gas design development
• Review and develop established standard details and specifications with current market trends
• Manage production of standard PHE Fire Gas details specifications Resource management across the PHE Fire Gas package Strategic technical decision making Technical responsibility for quality associated with PHE Fire Gas design deliverables

Fully qualified professional and conversant with relevant market knowledge.Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institute with 10+ years of industry experience post qualification.Chartered Engineer or working towards Membership of IPA, CIBSE, NFPA etc.Significant experience working in a design consultancy in the Middle East.Experience in delivering projects in conjunction with remote design centres.Proven experience working in a design consultancy as a designer and technical authority.Applied broad professional knowledge and experienced judgement.Exceptional skills and knowledge of working in a design consultancy with good knowledge of Local and International Codes and Regulations.A high level of technical skill in Public Health Services and Fire Protection Systems design is essential.Ability to develop technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.Good level of computer literacy in Windows,Revit, Revisto, HASS, HEVACOMP, Navis work and Microsoft packages - an understanding of the BIM process.Wider knowledge of integrated design and collaboration with other disciplines is highly desirable.Capable of working under pressure and on several projects simultaneously.Aware of the commercial process required with the administration of the Change Control systemAble to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills.Able to innovate new solutions as well as apply existing solutions to problems.Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a proactive way.Good report writing skills and experience in making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential.Forming and managing relationships with Clients, networking and promoting the company.Strong team management skills.Good leadership qualities to work in harmony with the team.
