Job summary

AL ITTEFAQ STEEL PRODUCTS CO. in Dammam is hiring a Senior Operator for Gantry Crane (10478) with 2–3 years of experience and a secondary school education. You will inspect crane conditions, perform safe crane operations, and handle charged baskets in the scrap yard.

You will report issues to the foreman, follow HS&E policies, maintain housekeeping, and assist maintenance. The role rewards teamwork, vigilance, and adherence to safety rules in a busy industrial site.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience as a crane operator.
• Secondary school education or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Check the condition of Crane prior to start operating and fill the checklist accordingly.
• Report problems to the Scrap Controller / Foreman immediately.
• Preparation of Charge Basket as per given Charge mix following instructions from Scrap controller.
• Charging of DRI, DRI Fines or Fluxes into the basket whenever required.
• Cleaning of scrap hangings over basket edges, clamshell wire rope & on Hanger after loading basket.
• Cleaning of scrap spillages over STC & at Basket loading area after loading basket by crane magnet.
• Cleaning of truck movement area / pathway under the scrap yard gantry by crane magnet frequently.
• Unloading of P&S / Heavy scrap from trucks using crane magnet.
• Picking out of leftover scrap from the bottom of the unloaded Trailer trucks using Electro-Magnet.
• Shifting of scrap to the designated Storage locations as per Shift Foreman / Inspector instructions.
• Cleaning the floor from leftover scrap after piling up of unloaded and inspected scrap from each truck.
• Blow the horn when operating LT/CT to alert coworkers & Equipment working in scrap yard gantry.
• Responsible for safe operations of the Crane & always maintain Housekeeping of scrap yard areas.
• Assist / Suggest to the maintenance crew during crane breakdown or whenever required.
• Train junior Crane Operators and keep monitoring on-job-training.
• Assist scrap operations team by doing related multi-skilled jobs if asked by Foreman.
• To understand and follow the organizational HS&E policies.
• To follow safety instructions related to their jobs.
• To report damaged PPE, unsafe machines or equipment to concerned staff.
• To keep the provided PPEs in good, workable conditions.
• To avoid any horseplay and abuse of safety devices, equipment and welfare facilities.
• To report any accidents, near misses or hazardous conditions to concerned responsible.
• To attend safety trainings planned for them.
• Having a right to say "NO" to any unsafe work.
