Job summary

AL ITTEFAQ STEEL PRODUCTS CO. in Dammam is seeking a Safety-conscious Scrap Yard Worker with 1-2 years of experience.

You will measure bulk density of scrap, unload scrap and DRI, segregate unwanted material, and classify scrap quality according to internal standards to support safe operations. You will maintain housekeeping, report incidents with evidence, coordinate with the foreman, handle oversize material, follow HS&E policies, and participate in safety trainings to keep the yard

Responsibilities

• Measurement of Bulk density of Scrap in incoming scrap supplies prior to unloading of truck.
• Unloading of Scrap and DRI as per grade at the designated location.
• Segregation of Unwanted material and Unprepared scrap by spreading offloaded scrap on floor.
• Classification of Scrap quality / category following approved Internal Scrap Standards.
• Visual estimation of Scrap quantity & grade if the unloaded scrap is composed of different categories.
• If any piece of scrap is not acceptable or inferior quality of scrap; load it back in the same truck in consultation with Foreman / SV.
• Reporting of Loaded-back Scrap abnormalities, deductions & rejections with relevant pics/evidence.
• Identify and segregate out closed containers, Hydraulic jacks and non-metallic/unwanted material.
• Inspections of suspected Bundle or Jumbled scrap after breaking it open before accepting.
• Record the relevant inspection remarks both on Scrap Inspection report and Inspection Sheet.
• Co-ordination with Scrap yard Foreman and Scrap Controller for Gantry crane or other requirements.
• Shifting of segregated out oversize material & unwanted material to the designated area at shift end.
• Takes care of safety of coworkers and machinery / scrap handling Equipment.
• Always maintain Housekeeping of the yard and keep surroundings environmental friendly.
• To understand and follow the organizational HS&E policies.
• To follow safety instructions related to their jobs.
• To report damaged PPE, unsafe machines or equipment to concerned staff.
• To keep the provided PPEs in good, workable conditions.
• To avoid any horseplay and abuse of safety devices, equipment and welfare facilities.
• To report any accidents, near misses or hazardous conditions to concerned responsible.
• To attend safety trainings planned for them.
• Having a right to say "NO" to any unsafe work.
