Job summary

SYSTRA is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer for a major roads project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves managing material engineering and QA/QC to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards. Excellent English communication is required; Arabic is a plus.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil/Materials Engineering degree, with minimum 15 years of relevant experience in roads and infrastructure, and prior PMC/consultancy exposure. Prior Saudi experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant professional experience in materials engineering.
• Experience on roads, highways, and infrastructure projects.
• Prior experience in PMC or engineering consultancy roles is desirable.
• Preference for candidates with Saudi Arabia experience and knowledge of local standards.
• Strong knowledge of pavement, geotechnical materials, concrete, asphalt, and QA/QC procedures.

Responsibilities

• Review material submittals, samples, data, and source approvals.
• Assess asphalt, concrete, aggregate, fill, subbase, and base materials for spec compliance.
• Review mix designs and approve or action corrective measures.
• Monitor field and lab testing for road construction materials.
• Ensure compliance with project specs and ASTM/AASHTO/BS/local standards.
• Inspect material sources, plants, quarries, and batching facilities.
• Review contractor quality control procedures and verify on-site implementation.
• Identify material non-conformances and propose corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project teams on material-related issues and approvals.
• Prepare material engineering reports and input to quality/progress reporting.
• Maintain records of material approvals, testing results, inspections, and NCRs.
