Job summary

Surbana Jurong Group is seeking an experienced Senior High Voltage Engineer for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on leading the design and delivery of HV/EHV power systems for major energy and infrastructure projects.

You will oversee substations (AIS/GIS), protection design, and interface with utilities and contractors, while guiding teams and ensuring compliance with IEC/IEEE standards and grid codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8–12 years in high-voltage power engineering.
• Experience with AIS/GIS substations and protection design.
• Familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards and grid codes.
• Experience in transmission, distribution, or renewables.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV/EHV substation design and delivery including AIS and GIS.
• Prepare layouts, single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and specs.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, utilities and contractors.
• Conduct protection studies and equipment selection.
• Support procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and QA.
• Mentor engineers and designers.

Role Overview

We are inviting Expressions of Interest from experienced Senior High Voltage Engineers for upcoming energy and infrastructure projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of high-voltage power systems, including transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and major infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of HV and EHV substations, including AIS and GIS systems.


• Prepare and review substation layouts, single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and technical specifications.


• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, utilities, contractors, and stakeholders.


• Undertake protection studies, equipment selection, and design reviews.


• Support procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and technical assurance activities.


• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.


• Minimum 8-12 years of experience in high-voltage power engineering.


• Strong experience in AIS/GIS substations and protection design.


• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, utility standards, and grid code requirements.


• Experience with transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or major infrastructure projects.


• Strong technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.


• Previous Middle East or Saudi Arabia project experience is highly desirable.
