Job summary

DAR AL RIYADH seeks a senior dam engineer with extensive experience in operation, maintenance, inspection and rehabilitation of dams and related infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. The role requires coordinating civil, structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control disciplines to ensure safe, compliant dam performance.

You will review inspections, instrumentation data, and condition assessments; identify deficiencies and develop practical corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 16 years of professional engineering experience in dam projects.
• Substantial experience in operation, maintenance, inspection, rehabilitation or improvement of dams and associated infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of dam structures, spillways, outlets, gates, drainage systems, foundations and associated electromechanical assets.

Responsibilities

• Monitor dam operation and maintenance activities across the assigned portfolio.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering disciplines (civil, structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control).
• Review the condition and performance of dams and assets; identify deficiencies and recommend corrective measures.
• Review inspections, condition assessments, instrumentation data and project documentation.
• Oversee O&M contracts, review contractor submissions, and ensure compliance with plans and safety standards.
• Prepare technical reports, risk assessments and handover documentation; participate in site inspections and audits.

Job description

• Monitor dam operation and maintenance activities across the assigned portfolio
• Coordinate civil structural geotechnical hydraulic mechanical electrical instrumentation and control disciplines
• Review the condition and operational performance of dams and associated assets
• Identify structural hydraulic geotechnical mechanical or operational deficiencies and recommend corrective measures
• Review dam inspection findings condition-assessment reports and instrumentation data
• Monitor seepage deformation settlement cracking erosion sedimentation and other indicators that may affect dam performance
• Review and support preventive predictive corrective and emergency maintenance programs
• Identify critical assets and prioritize maintenance rehabilitation and replacement requirements
• Review project schedules work plans progress reports and approved budgets
• Monitor actual progress against contractual milestones and approved delivery plans
• Identify schedule cost technical and operational deviations and recommend recovery actions
• Plan and coordinate dam O amp M rehabilitation and improvement projects from initiation through completion
• Review technical designs drawings calculations specifications bills of quantities and method statements
• Verify that technical submissions comply with applicable codes standards and Client requirements
• Oversee dam O amp M contracts and monitor contractor performance
• Verify that contractors execute works in accordance with approved plans specifications safety requirements and quality standards
• Review contractors progress reports technical submissions inspection requests and completion records
• Participate in site inspections technical audits testing commissioning and handover activities
• Coordinate the resolution of technical issues non-conformances defects and outstanding works
• Support the preparation and improvement of dam operating manuals maintenance procedures and emergency action plans
• Contribute technical input to new scopes of work tender documents and contract requirements
• Monitor project risks and support the development of appropriate mitigation and contingency plans
• Coordinate with planning contracts cost control risk quality HSE and asset-management teams
• Prepare clear daily weekly monthly annual and technical reports as required by the assignment
• Present technical findings performance concerns risks and recommendations to management and government stakeholders
• Coordinate with government entities consultants contractors and multidisciplinary project teams
• Attend meetings inspections and site visits anywhere in Saudi Arabia as required
• Comply with Saudi laws applicable codes Client procedures quality requirements and occupational health and safety obligations
• Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university.

• Ability to identify technical and operational risks and develop practical engineering recommendations.
• Strong technical-reporting, coordination, leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
• Relevant experience must be supported by verifiable employment records, project references, reports or studies when requested.
