Job summary

Albawani is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide on-site electrical support, review shop drawings, and ensure compliance with project drawings, specs, and standards. You will work with Design Coordinators and oversee technical documentation and as-built records.

Ideal candidates have 10–12 years of experience, strong English proficiency, and a background in design and build projects, with expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10–12 years of relevant experience in design, construction, or D&B projects.
• Strong ability to coordinate multidisciplinary deliverables and review design/shop drawings.
• Proficient English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides discipline-specific electrical engineering support to the project, ensuring electrical works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.

Reporting to the Design Manager and working under the direction of Technical Coordinators, the role is responsible for reviewing electrical shop drawings and materials, supporting as-built documentation, responding to RFIs, Technical Queries (TQs), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and carrying out site inspections and technical reporting related to electrical works.

Key Accountabilities Key Activities

Site & Construction Support (Electrical)

• Provide day-to-day electrical engineering support on site, addressing construction queries, RFIs, and technical clarifications.
• Review electrical works on site to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, mock-ups, and samples.
• Identify electrical site issues, deviations, or non-conformances and support their resolution in coordination with the Design Manager and Technical Coordinators.
• Coordinate electrical activities with structural, architectural mechanical, façade, and fit-out works to avoid clashes and execution conflicts.
• Support snagging, inspections, and quality reviews of electrical works and finishes.

Shop Drawings, Submittals & As-Built Support

• Review electrical shop drawings, material submittals, samples, and method statements for compliance with approved design intent and specifications.
• Provide clear technical comments to support timely approvals and construction progress.
• Verify that approved shop drawings and materials are correctly implemented on site.
• Support the preparation, review, and validation of electrical as-built drawings and records.
• Assist Technical Coordinators in tracking electrical submittals and closing out review comments.

Technical Queries, RFIs & NCR Management

• Prepare and support responses to RFIs, Technical Queries (TQs), and site clarifications related to electrical works.
• Assist in the investigation, reporting, and close-out of electrical NCRs, observations, and quality issues.
• Propose practical electrical solutions to site issues for review and approval by the Design Manager.
• Maintain accurate records of technical responses and site-related decisions in accordance with project procedures.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers on electrical matters.
• Attend site coordination meetings and progress reviews as required.
• Ensure electrical technical information is clearly communicated through approved project workflows.
• Contribute to lessons learned related to electrical detailing, constructability, and site execution.
• Support mentoring and technical guidance of junior engineers and site staff.
• Promote best practices in electrical construction quality and execution.

Necessary Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum 10–12 years of relevant engineering experience within design, construction, or Design & Build project environments.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering deliverables, including design drawings, shop drawings, and technical submissions.
• Sound working knowledge of building systems and discipline interfaces (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical).
• ‘Proficient’ in technical documentation, review workflows, and engineering coordination processes.
• Strong professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.

Education and Certification Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Professional or engineering certification/licensing is an advantage but not mandatory.

• Proficient in engineering and design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination tools).
• Strong understanding of design coordination, constructability, and design-to-construction workflows.
• Ability to manage technical logs, trackers, and document control systems within a CDE environment.
