Alfanar Projects is looking for a Senior Cost Control Engineer to manage and forecast costs across construction projects. The role involves setting up project budgets, tracking actual costs and commitments, identifying potential overruns, and giving project teams reliable forecasts so they can take action early.

We are looking for an engineer with hands-on cost control experience in a large construction or EPC company.

Key responsibilities

• Set up project cost breakdown structures and budgets in SAP or a similar project cost system.
• Review project scope and requirements to prepare detailed estimates to complete.
• Track actual costs, commitments, and budget changes throughout the project.
• Compare budgeted costs with actual and forecast costs; identify overruns and explain the reasons.
• Prepare and regularly update cost forecasts, project cash flows, and cost reports.
• Analyse percentage of completion, project progress, and financial performance with the project and finance teams.
• Review proposed budget revisions and reconcile cost figures with Finance.
• Work with project execution, planning, resources, and supply chain teams to obtain accurate cost and progress information.
• Highlight cost risks early and recommend practical actions to protect project profitability.
• Support cost saving initiatives without affecting project requirements or delivery.
• Prepare clear reports and dashboards for project teams and management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 5–7 years of cost control experience in a large construction or EPC company.
• Hands-on experience setting up project budgets, tracking costs, and preparing forecasts and financial reports.
• Good understanding of estimates to complete, cash flow forecasting, percentage of completion (POC), and project cost performance.
• Working experience with SAP PS/CO or a similar project cost management system.
• Strong Excel skills. Experience with Primavera and Power BI is an advantage.
• Able to explain cost variances clearly and work closely with both project teams and Finance.

Preferred:

CCP or PMP certification and experience using Earned Value Management (EVM).
