Confidential is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Control Engineer to lead cost control across landscape, infrastructure and civil construction projects. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to keep programs within approved budgets while supporting informed decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have a civil/quantity surveying background, 10+ years in project controls, expertise in SAP PS/CO and EVM, advanced Excel, and professional certifications such as CCP

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cost control or project controls within the construction industry.
  • Experience in landscape, infrastructure, or civil construction projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis skills with EVM integration.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in SAP (PS/CO).

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain project cost control systems, procedures, and cost breakdown structures.
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and identify variances.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports including CAC, CV, and EVA.
  • Develop budgets, baselines, and EAC; provide cash flow forecasts.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure accurate cost reporting and audits.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Control Engineer to join a leading organization specializing in landscape, infrastructure, and civil construction projects. This role is ideal for a highly analytical professional with extensive experience in project cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting within large-scale construction environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring effective cost management throughout the project lifecycle, supporting informed decision-making while maintaining projects within approved budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain project cost control systems, procedures, and cost breakdown structures.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets and identify cost variances.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, including Cost at Completion (CAC), Cost Variance (CV), and Earned Value Analysis (EVA).
  • Develop project budgets, cost baselines, and Estimates at Completion (EAC).
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and support financial planning activities.
  • Evaluate the cost impact of change orders, variations, and scope changes.
  • Maintain accurate cost forecasts and recommend corrective actions when required.
  • Support project review meetings by providing detailed cost analysis and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Finance, Procurement, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate project cost reporting.
  • Maintain cost risk registers and support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, financial policies, and project controls procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cost control or project controls within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience in landscape, infrastructure, or civil construction projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong background in managing large-scale project budgets and cost reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP (PS/CO modules).
  • Excellent knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are highly desirable.
