Role Overview
DAO-Badran is seeking an experiencedSenior BIM Specialistto support the Interior Design Department in the development, coordination, and delivery of complex interior design projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing interior design BIM models, maintaining project standards, coordinating multidisciplinary information, and supporting the design team from concept development through detailed design, tender, and construction documentation.
The role requires a strong understanding of interior architecture, BIM workflows, technical detailing, model coordination, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain interior design BIM models throughout all project stages.
- Translate design concepts, sketches, and technical requirements into accurate and coordinated Revit models.
- Prepare interior design drawings, including plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and room data.
- Establish and maintain BIM standards, model structures, naming conventions, templates, and project protocols.
- Coordinate interior design models with architecture, structural, MEP, lighting, signage, and specialist consultant models.
- Identify coordination conflicts, model discrepancies, and technical risks, and support the team in resolving them.
- Conduct model reviews, clash detection, quality checks, and coordination audits.
- Ensure BIM deliverables comply with project BIM Execution Plans, Employer Information Requirements, and DAO-Badran standards.
- Develop and manage Revit families, material libraries, annotation systems, schedules, and interior design content.
- Support the integration of finishes, furniture, joinery, lighting, equipment, and specialist interior elements within the BIM model.
- Coordinate reflected ceiling plans with lighting, air terminals, sprinklers, access panels, and other services.
- Produce coordinated tender, IFC, and construction documentation from the BIM model.
- Support the preparation of BOQs, material schedules, furniture schedules, door schedules, and finish schedules.
- Review BIM models and drawings produced by junior team members and provide technical guidance.
- Support interior designers in maintaining design intent during BIM development and technical coordination.
- Work closely with BIM management, Technical Delivery, project leads, and the Head of Interior Design.
- Participate in client, consultant, contractor, and coordination meetings when required.
- Review shop drawings, contractor models, material submissions, and coordination proposals.
- Provide BIM and technical support during tendering, construction, and site implementation.
- Assist in developing automated workflows, model efficiencies, and digital design processes.
- Explore the use of AI and emerging technologies to improve BIM coordination, documentation, quality control, and delivery.
- Support training and mentoring of interior designers and BIM team members.
- Ensure project models and documentation are delivered according to the approved programme, scope, quality standards, and budget.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience, including significant experience in interior design BIM delivery.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, including modelling, documentation, schedules, families, templates, and model coordination.
- Strong understanding of interior design detailing, fit-out construction, materials, finishes, furniture, joinery, and ceiling coordination.
- Experience delivering projects through concept, schematic, detailed design, tender, IFC, and construction stages.
- Experience coordinating interior design models with architecture, MEP, structural, lighting, and specialist disciplines.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM Collaborate Pro, or similar common data environments.
- Experience with Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection.
- Knowledge of BIM standards, BIM Execution Plans, LOD requirements, and information-management procedures.
- Experience with Dynamo, automation tools, or computational workflows is an advantage.
- Familiarity with 3ds Max, Enscape, Twinmotion, or other visualization tools is an advantage.
- Experience using AI-supported tools for model review, documentation, coordination, or workflow improvement is preferred.
- Strong technical, organizational, problem-solving, and quality-control skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet demanding deadlines.
