Job summary

CodeNinja is seeking an experienced Automation QA Engineer to join our Riyadh QA team. You will design, implement, and maintain automated test suites for Web, Mobile, and backend systems, using Java, Selenium, Appium, and REST Assured.

You will work across Agile and waterfall environments, analyze logs, and collaborate with DevOps to drive continuous testing. Ideal candidates have strong Java skills, hands-on automation with Selenium, Appium, REST Assured, and experience with CI/CD pipelines,

Qualifications

• Java programming proficiency.
• Selenium WebDriver expertise.
• Appium expertise for Android/iOS.
• REST Assured for API testing.
• Strong understanding of Agile (Scrum/Kanban).
• Knowledge of STLC/SDLC and manual testing.
• Experience testing mobile apps and versioning/build management.
• API validation (headers, payloads, schema, status codes, authentication).
• SQL queries for data validation.
• Familiarity with Kafka (topics, producers, consumers).
• Ability to analyze application and server logs (Kibana/Logcat/Splunk).
• Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines.
• Git or other version control tools.

Responsibilities

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Automation QA Engineer to join our growing QA team in Riyadh. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in test automation frameworks, solid programming skills in Java, and hands‑on experience testing web, mobile, and backend systems across both Agile and waterfall environments, along with a solid foundation in manual testing. This role requires someone who can design, implement, and maintain robust automated test suites, analyze system behavior through logs and data, and collaborate effectively across development, product, and DevOps teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement automation frameworks for Web, Mobile, and API testing using industry‑standard tools and best practices
• Build and maintain UI test scripts using Selenium WebDriver and Appium for Android/iOS
• Develop and execute API test automation using REST Assured, including schema validation, parameterization, and authentication
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in Agile ceremonies
• Perform functional, regression, smoke, integration, and end‑to‑end automation testing
• Analyze application and server logs to identify root causes of issues and validate system behavior
• Work closely with developers to debug failures and stabilise automation suites
• Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure, GitLab CI) to enable continuous testing
• Test and validate Kafka events, producers/consumers, and data flows for backend message‑driven systems
• Perform database validations using SQL queries to ensure data accuracy and integrity
• Manage test scripts and app versions in version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Review and optimise existing test scripts for reusability, stability, and performance
• Contribute to QA strategy, propose improvements, and mentor junior engineers

Requirements

Must‑Haves

• Strong hands‑on expertise in Java programming
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Selenium WebDriver for web automation
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Appium for mobile automation (Android & iOS)
• Strong hands‑on expertise in REST Assured for API testing
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and experience working in sprint‑based delivery teams
• Good understanding of software testing principles, STLC, and SDLC, including manual testing
• Experience testing mobile apps, including versioning, build management, and device management
• Proficiency in API validation (headers, payloads, schema, status codes, authentication)
• Good knowledge of databases and the ability to write complex SQL queries
• Basic understanding of and testing experience with Kafka (topics, producers, consumers, message flow)
• Ability to analyse application and server logs (e.g., Kibana, Logcat, Splunk) for debugging
• Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines
• Hands‑on experience with Git or other version control tools
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills

Nice‑to‑Haves

• Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, JBehave)
• Exposure to cloud/mobile device farms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, pCloudy, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter)
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and test execution in distributed systems
• Banking domain experience
