Job summary

Makeen Technical Services is looking for a Senior 2-Stroke Engine Design Engineer in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will develop mechanical parts' production designs, oversee troubleshooting for engine issues, and ensure alignment with Licensor standards.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in CAD software and project management skills are essential. The position aims to enhance junior engineers' capabilities while managing design projects efficiently.

Job description

The Senior 2-Stroke Engine Design Engineer works to develop the production design for mechanical parts to satisfy the requirement and quality in a timely manner. In addition to developing the parts list of drawings and He She lead the troubleshooting efforts of the engine issues during engine production acceptance tests and after commissioning. He She also manage and control engine issues during engine production acceptance test and after commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Develop the production design for mechanical parts to satisfy requirements and quality in a timely manner.
• Develop the parts list of drawings.
• Lead the troubleshooting efforts of engine issues during engine production acceptance tests and after commissioning.
• Manage and control engine issues during engine production acceptance testing and after commissioning.
• Develop the design system including 2D/3D CAD system compatible with the Licensor’s system and establish the standard technology and drawings.
• Build the communication channel with the Licensor to set up Licensor’s technical support in the initial stage and cooperate with the licensor and technical partners for technical trend issues and engineering problems.
• Design structural parts such as bedplate, frame, box, cylinder frame, engine platforms and moving parts.
• Utilize CAD program to design the 2D/3D models of engine components and assemblies following Licensor standards.
• Create an accurate and complete parts list of drawings for suppliers without faults or issues.
• Submit Purchase Order Requests (PORs) for components with the correct quality and quantity specified in a timely manner.
• Act as a technical expert in client meetings, proposing the best‑suited engine model and creating the extent of delivery (EOD) after reviewing the Purchase Order Specification (POS).
• Troubleshoot engine quality issues during production with the Operations Business Line or customers (e.g., vibration, noise, alignment).
• Manage the Non‑Conformity Report (NCR) and List of Differences (LOD) with the licensor.
• Optimize designs to reduce wasted material costs.
• Support the improvement of junior engineers’ abilities.
• Perform any job‑related activities as requested by the line manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in blue‑chip or best‑practice organization.
• Professional certifications preferred in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Mastery of CAD software and strong understanding of design principles.
• Solid knowledge of Licensor’s design codes & standards, IMO regulations and class rules.
• Knowledge of materials properties and selection criteria.
• Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools to assess performance, durability and reliability of designs.
• Project management skills to plan, organize and execute design projects effectively.
• Effective analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to identify and assess risks associated with design projects.
• Implementation of quality assurance processes.
• Proficiency in MS products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other discipline‑specific software applications.
• Strong documentation skills for design specifications, technical drawings and project reports.
• Leadership skills to mentor junior engineers.
