Responsibilities
The Design Project Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating design activities during the delivery phase of projects on behalf of the Client. The role ensures that all design packages are coordinated, compliant, buildable, and delivered in accordance with project requirements, program, budget, quality standards, and operational objectives.
Design Management & Coordination
- Manage and oversee the design development and coordination process during project delivery.
- Review and monitor consultant and contractor design submissions for compliance with client requirements, specifications, codes, and project objectives.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design interfaces across architectural, structural, MEP, infrastructure, specialist systems, and operational requirements.
- Ensure design solutions are practical, buildable, cost‑effective, and aligned with construction methodologies.
- Support the timely closure of RFIs, technical queries, design clarifications, and site issues.
Project Delivery Support
- Collaborate closely with construction and commercial teams to align design, procurement, and construction activities.
- Monitor design progress against the project program and identify risks, delays, or coordination issues.
- Participate in and lead design workshops, technical meetings, and progress reviews with consultants and contractors.
- Assist in resolving technical and interface challenges during construction and installation phases.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities where design input is required.
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with internal and external client stakeholders, including Formula 1 operators, end users, and external authorities to ensure requirements are incorporated into the design.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, vendors, and specialist suppliers to ensure smooth delivery outcomes.
- Facilitate communication among all parties to drive efficient decision‑making and issue resolution.
Quality & Compliance
- Support design assurance and quality control processes throughout project execution.
- Review submissions, drawings, and technical documentation as required.
- Ensure design changes are properly assessed, documented, and approved through formal change‑management processes.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain design tracking registers, interface logs, and technical review comments.
- Provide regular updates on design status, risks, key issues, and mitigation actions to the delivery leadership team.
- Maintain accurate records of design decisions, approvals, and coordination outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in design engineering within the project management sector.
- Proficiency in design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and relevant simulation tools.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and best practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
- Familiarity with industry codes, regulations, and quality assurance procedures.
