Magrabi Health in Jeddah is seeking a Safety Technician to support health, safety, fire prevention, and environmental safety programs across hospital sites. You will perform routine inspections, monitor compliance, and assist in incident investigations to keep patients, staff, and visitors safe.

The role collaborates with multiple departments to uphold accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, conducts fire drills, maintains safety records, and promotes a proactive safety culture

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Occupational Safety or related field is required.
  • Fire Safety Certification is mandatory.
  • 2+ years' experience in safety within healthcare is preferred.

Job description

The Safety Technician is responsible for supporting the implementation of health, safety, fire prevention, and environmental safety programs throughout the assigned hospitals &centers. The role conducts routine inspections, monitors compliance with safety regulations, assists in incident investigations, supports fire and emergency preparedness activities, and helps maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, contractors, and assets. The incumbent works closely with all hospital/center departments to ensure adherence to safety policies, accreditation requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Safety Inspections and Monitoring
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of hospital/center buildings, clinical areas, offices, workshops, warehouses, and utility plants.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and unsafe practices.
  • Monitor corrective actions and follow up on safety observations until closure.
  • Participate in environmental rounds and safety audits.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures.
Fire Safety Management
  • Inspect fire extinguishers, hose reels, emergency exits, fire doors, and fire alarm systems.
  • Ensure emergency evacuation routes remain clear and properly marked.
  • Assist in conducting fire drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Maintain records of fire safety inspections and testing activities.
Occupational Health and Safety
  • Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Promote safe work practices among employees and contractors.
  • Support implementation of hazard identification and risk assessment processes.
  • Participate in workplace hazard assessments and risk mitigation activities.
Incident Reporting and Investigation
  • Assist in investigating accidents, injuries, property damage incidents, and near misses.
  • Collect evidence, interview involved persons, and prepare reports.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions resulting from investigations.
  • Maintain incident logs and safety records.
Contractor Safety Oversight
  • Monitor contractor compliance with hospital/center safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety inductions for contractors and visitors when required.
  • Verify that contractors use appropriate PPE and follow safe work procedures.
  • Report safety violations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in emergency response activities.
  • Support hospital/center emergency codes and disaster management plans.
  • Ensure emergency equipment is available and operational.
Hazardous Materials and Waste Safety
  • Conduct routine inspections of hazardous material storage areas to ensure compliance with MH policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist departments in maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and ensure their accessibility to staff.
  • Assist in delivering staff awareness and training programs related to chemical safety, hazardous materials handling, spill response, and emergency procedures.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain safety inspection records, audit reports, incident reports, and training records.
  • Prepare periodic safety performance reports.
  • Track safety observations, corrective actions, and compliance indicators.
  • Ensure safety documentation is readily available for accreditation surveys and inspections.
Safety Awareness and Training
  • Assist in delivering safety orientations for new employees.
  • Participate in safety awareness campaigns and educational programs.
  • Support fire safety and emergency preparedness training initiatives.
  • Encourage a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Education
  • Diploma in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Fire Safety, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Fire Safety Certification is a must.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in safety, occupational health and safety, fire safety, facilities management, engineering maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience in hospitals or healthcare facilities preferred.
