Job summary

A partner company listed on behalf of Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer – Protection based in Saudi Arabia. You will design and build scalable back-end systems for payment dispute management, fraud prevention, and risk automation, taking ownership from architecture to deployment in a fully remote, distributed team.

You will work with engineering managers, product leads, and third‑party vendors to integrate solutions, implement rules engines, and monitor reliability.

• Proven experience owning backend systems end to end.
• Strong software engineering and system design skills.
• Experience building systems from scratch and owning ambiguous problems.
• High standards for code quality and reliability.

• Experience mentoring engineers.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication in a remote, distributed environment.

• Experience in payments or fraud prevention is advantageous.
• Familiarity with card scheme rules and chargebacks.
• Experience integrating third-party fraud prevention vendors.
• Willingness to contribute to frontend development when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain robust backend systems across their lifecycle.
• Develop payment dispute automation: notifications, deadlines, evidence collection, workflows.
• Integrate with Payment Service Providers to extend dispute coverage.
• Collaborate with fraud prevention vendors to unify risk platforms.
• Design native risk rules, velocity checks, and blocklists.
• Work with Engineering and Product to translate merchant challenges into technical solutions.
• Support dashboard frontend when needed to deliver complete product experiences.
• Establish testing, code reviews, monitoring, and on-call discipline.
• Mentor teammates and raise engineering standards.
• Contribute to team conventions and development practices.
