Job summary

Welspun Pipes Company in Saudi Arabia seeks a Pump House Compressor System Hydraulic Fitter to perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment used in ductile iron pipe production. You will inspect, repair, lubricate and align machinery while supporting shutdown activities.

The role requires hands-on skills with pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and rotating equipment, plus a solid grasp of hydraulics and pneumatics.

Qualifications

• ITI in Mechanical Fitter or Industrial Maintenance
• 10–15 years of experience in heavy manufacturing pipe plant foundry steel cement or similar
• Experience with maintenance of hot mould casting equipment is an added advantage

Job description

Position Overview

The Pump House Compressor System Hydraulic Fitter is responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment used in ductile iron pipe production. The technician ensures the smooth running of machinery by performing inspections, repairs, replacements, lubrication, mechanical adjustments and assisting in shutdown maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs on equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves and rotating machinery. Troubleshoot mechanical faults and support quick restoration of production operations. Assist in repairing and maintaining casting machines, furnaces, annealing equipment, and finishing line systems.
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) activities. Conduct routine equipment checks, lubrication, belt tensioning, alignment and bearing replacement. Report abnormal noise, vibration, overheating or leaks during inspections.
• Responsible for mechanical systems related to melting furnaces and charging systems, centrifugal casting machines, annealing furnaces and cooling beds, pipe handling systems, conveyors, chain drives, cutting/grinding and finishing machines, hydraulics and pneumatics (cylinders, hoses, valves), cooling water pumps and piping systems.
• Support planned shutdown maintenance activities. Assist in installation, dismantling and alignment of machinery. Follow engineering drawings and instructions during equipment overhauls.
• Use mechanical tools such as torque wrenches, grinders, pullers, drills, welding equipment and alignment tools. Carry out basic fabrication tasks (cutting, welding, threading and fitting). Ensure tools are maintained in good working condition.
• Follow all plant safety rules, LOTO procedures and PPE requirements. Participate in safety toolbox talks. Ensure safe handling of mechanical components and heavy parts using lifting equipment.
• Record work done in job cards or CMMS systems. Report faults, spare requirements and unusual observations to supervisors. Update maintenance checklists and inspection sheets.

Work Environment

Foundry and pipe manufacturing environment with exposure to heat and heavy machinery. Requires shift work, overtime, and availability during breakdowns. Works closely with mechanical engineers, technicians, operators and safety staff.
