Job summary

Wood is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to support mining projects in Saudi Arabia, leading major earthworks, foundations, and structural installations for a new gold mine and processing plant at a remote site. The role requires extensive experience in heavy industrial construction and strong site leadership.

The incumbent will coordinate safety, design modification work, and on-site problem solving while ensuring compliance with SBC and local environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in heavy industrial construction, infrastructure, or mining projects.
• Deep knowledge of earthwork, geotechnical, structural steel and concrete.
• Familiarity with SBC and local environmental laws; SCE registration is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction site assessments, surveys, and site mobilization.
• Manage massive earthworks, bulk excavations, and grading operations.
• Verify ground stabilization and soil compaction improvements where applicable.
• Oversee foundation pouring and curing for mining infrastructure.
• Supervise structural steel and reinforced concrete installation for processing plants; ensure conformance with specs; issue non-conformance reports.
• Direct waterproofing, insulation, and asset protection systems against harsh climates.
• Design and deploy stormwater drainage and flood mitigation; field tasks mainly modify existing design.
• Manage civil finishing works including heavy-haul mining roads and pavements.
• Coordinate utility trenching, pipelines, and containment pond construction.
• Provide real-time field engineering support and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Enforce HSE protocols with local regulatory bodies.
• Review drawings and 3D model to resolve on-site design clashes and respond to RFIs.
