Saudi Aramco (ASC) is seeking an experienced Senior Power Cable Technician to join our Power Operations Organization. This role involves underground power cable installations, repairs, testing, and maintenance for cables rated 2.4KV–115KV.

The ideal candidate will have at least 12 years of experience in power systems, especially in transmission and distribution, with relevant certifications. Strong communication skills in English and a diploma in electrical field are essential.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Power Cable Technician to join our Power Operations Organization. The role involves underground power cable installations, repairs, fault location, testing, maintenance, and commissioning for cables rated 2.4KV–115KV.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and perform high‑potential cable testing to 230KV.
• Perform megger tests, phasing of energized conductors to 35KV.
• Install, repair, and maintain all HV transmission distribution cables, solid dielectric, PILCA, LPOF, submarine, and related equipment.
• Conduct diagnostics to locate cable faults, complete measurements, analysis, and determine repairs or modifications.
• Track discrepancies, maintain a technical library, and audit equipment records, cable routes, IDs, specs, test results, past failures, and required fixes.
• Acquire clearances, perform switching, and receive work permits to restore equipment to service.
• Perform preventive maintenance on high‑voltage cable terminations for substation switchgear, transformers, and ancillary equipment.
• Execute splices, terminations, taps, potheads, transitions, and elbows based on construction drawings and manufacturer instructions.
• Use testing equipment such as insulation resistance, partial discharge, low‑frequency V‑Tan delta, power factor, and Time‑Domain Reflector.
• Train subordinate technicians in diagnostics, troubleshooting, test, repair, and maintenance procedures.
• Supervise cable excavation, ensure de‑energization, safety grounding, and oversee cable laying for high‑ and medium‑voltage cables.
• Perform commissioning tests on new cables.

Qualifications

• Diploma or industrial degree in electrical field; BS in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• At least 12years of experience, including 10years in power system construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operation, with emphasis on transmission and distribution.
• Certifications such as Basic Life Support/FA, Fire Protection, Work Permit Receiver, cable splicing, and potential testing are preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of equipment and underground cable safety requirements and U.S. & Saudi Electrical Codes.
• Ability to understand work orders, work permits, vendor manuals, schematic diagrams and communicate technical aspects effectively.
• Good knowledge of Safety Management System.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
