King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Mechanical Engineering area, focusing on composite materials and structural integrity.

The successful candidate will plan and conduct experimental investigations, analyze data, publish results, and contribute to collaborations with research partners while supervising PhD and MSc students in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• PhD in mechanical, materials, civil, aerospace or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Hands-on experience in experimental mechanics of polymers, composites or adhesive joints.
• Experience with servo-hydraulic or electrodynamic testing and fatigue testing.
• Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to plan long, disciplined test campaigns with rigorous records.
• Cover letter and full CV with publications list and referees.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct experimental investigations on composite materials and bonded structures.
• Prepare specimens and carry out mechanical and experimental characterization.
• Apply non-destructive testing and monitoring techniques.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data and contribute to publications.
• Contribute to project reporting, presentations, and collaboration with research partners.
• Support supervision of PhD and MSc students.
