Responsible for the overall operation and supervision of the technical and administrative functions of the Sleep Laboratory. Supervises plans, organizes and monitors operation of the Sleep Laboratory. Assigns work schedules, effectively measures and reports the productivity of staff and recommends resource allocation adjustments.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensures quality assurance and performance improvement programs are developed and implemented in accordance with JCIA and the hospitals duality program.
- Actively participates in Hospital’s Performance Improvement (PI) activities.
- Reviews procedures, implements and updates techniques that will enhance the performance of the Sleep Lab.
- Develops and introduces advanced techniques with research and clinical application.
- Develops/updates internal Policies and Procedures (IPP) for the service in accordance with hospital policies and in compliance with JCIA.
- Prepares long/short term goals and objectives for the Sleep Laboratory.
- Recommends and implements information systems to enhance the workflow and operation of the clinic.
- Evaluates performance of staff; counsels and motivates staff to improve performance; recommends disciplinary action.
- Liaises with Personnel Services Department for all manpower related issues. Develops, modifies and implements job descriptions and performance evaluation forms for staff.
- Evaluates employment candidates and makes recommendations regarding hire.
- Develops and implements training and competency programs for staff. Ensures staff receives appropriate orientation, training and access to continuing education.
- Provides on‑going and timely communication and feedback to the Head regarding issues, changes in workloads and coverage concerns/problems in area(s) of responsibility. Participates in covered the on‑call assignment as required.
- Maintains an effective supply order/inventory system. Ensures that optimum levels of supplies are continuously available to provide uninterrupted services.
- Evaluates equipment; recommends purchase or continued use / disposal. Be fully familiar Liebeke with and manages all aspects of equipment contracts, service and maintenance.
- Prepares and maintains the section budget; prepares and maintains periodic administrative report. Liaises with other departments to coordinate activities and resolve problems.
- Ensures that hospital safety procedures are implemented and practiced. Participates in hospital committees and meetings as assigned.
- Dedicates 70% of time to perform sleep studies including overnight sleep study, MSL and CPAP$get
- BiPAV titrations. Prepares the scoring report of sleep/wake stages and clinical events such as respiratory events, periodic limb movements, and arousals etc. using accepted professional guidelines.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provides age specific assessment and care according to policy.
- Participates in Department/Unit specific and Hospital wide quality improvement plan preferred.
- Follows all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
- Participates in self and others’ education, training and development, as applicable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: Master’s or Bachelor Degree in Respiratory Care is required.
Experience Required: Four (4) years of related experience with Masters, or six (6) years with Bachelor’s Degree is required.

- Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
- American Board Registration for Polysomnography Technologists.
- Successful completion of Polysomnography program with documented proficiency.
- Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
