Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Pastry Helper to assist the Pastry Chef and bakery team in daily production of pastries, desserts, and bakery items within a hotel kitchen. You will help with weighing ingredients, preparing doughs and fillings, shaping and decorating, and ensuring cleanliness and organization throughout the pastry station.

Qualifications

• Experience in bakery, pastry kitchen, hotel, restaurant, or catering is preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop pastry skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pastry Chef and pastry team with daily production and preparation.
• Measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and instructions.
• Assist with the preparation of doughs, creams, fillings, batters, and other pastry products.
• Support the preparation, baking, decorating, and finishing of pastries and desserts.
• Prepare ingredients and equipment before production and ensure the workstation is organized.
• Assist with decorating cakes, pastries, and desserts as directed by the Pastry Chef.
• Maintain proper storage and labeling of ingredients and prepared products.
• Check ingredients for quality, freshness, and expiry dates.
• Keep pastry equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas clean and sanitized.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing pastry ingredients and supplies.
• Minimize food waste and use ingredients efficiently.
• Clean and properly store equipment and utensils after use.
• Follow instructions from the Pastry Chef and senior kitchen staff.
• Support the team during busy service periods, special events, and high-volume production.
• Perform other reasonable duties related to pastry and kitchen operations as assigned.
