Job Summary

The OHL / Transmission Line Specialist will assess the condition and integrity of high-voltage and extra-high-voltage overhead transmission lines, including towers, foundations, conductors, insulators, hardware and associated components. The role involves identifying and grading defects, evaluating operational risks and recommending suitable repair, refurbishment, uprating or replacement strategies.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct tower-to-tower condition assessments of HV/EHV overhead lines up to 400/500/765 kV.
• Inspect towers/poles, foundations, steelwork, bolts, corrosion, alignment, conductors, earth wires, insulators and line hardware.
• Assess sag, ground clearance, spacers, dampers, joints, clamps, jumpers, aviation markers, grounding and emergency/mobile towers.
• Review route records, design ratings, loading conditions, environmental exposure and previous inspection history.
• Identify and grade defects based on severity, operational impact and consequence.
• Recommend corrective actions, including repairs, refurbishment, uprating or asset replacement.
• Prepare technical condition assessment reports with findings, risk ratings and recommendations.

Mandatory Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant experience in overhead transmission line inspection, assessment, or engineering.
• Strong experience with HV/EHV overhead lines up to 400/500/765 kV.
• Practical knowledge of tower and foundation assessment, line hardware, conductor condition and route/clearance requirements.
• Ability to interpret structural details, engineering drawings, design ratings and inspection records.
• Experience in defect identification, severity grading and technical reporting.
• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
