Summary

Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and conditions, as well as the provision of medical care in the field of Microbiology in accordance with the current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the Organization policies and procedures in Saudi Arabia

Education / Qualification Required:

1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
2. Post-qualification certification
   • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
   • USA: The American Board of Microbiology (ABM)
   • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC – Microbiology)
   • UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register – Microbiology
   • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College – Microbiology (FRACP)
   • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

• Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
• Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

• Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
• Current BLS/ACLS Certificate

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• To provide diagnostic and consultative services to physicians and patients in accordance with privileges granted, standards and guidelines for maintaining accreditation by College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Joint Commission international Accreditation (JCIA) and National Guard Laboratory Standards.
• To participate in educational programs for the staff, medical technology students, interns, residents and participates in continuing education for laboratory staff and for staff physicians.
• Serves on Hospital and Departmental committees as directed.
• Assists with the development and implementation of new techniques and services.
• Actively participates in the quality improvement program.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
