Job summary

A prominent construction firm in Dhahran Compound is seeking a Project Engineer - MEP to oversee mechanical works for water infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, extensive experience in project management, and skills in Primavera Project Management. Responsibilities include managing onsite execution, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with project standards. Proficiency in both English and Arabic is advantageous. Qualifications

Job Summary

As Project Engineer - MEP you will be responsible for the full-time on-site execution and coordination of wet-utility infrastructure works. The role ensures installation, testing, and commissioning of water, sewerage, storm-water, and irrigation networks in compliance with approved drawings and authority standards. The engineer coordinates with consultants, subcontractors, and authorities to achieve project milestones. The position monitors quality, safety, and progress to ensure timely and compliant project delivery. The role reports directly to the Project Manager and supports successful project handover.

Responsibilities


  • Project Operation duties:

    • Technical Responsibilities (Mechanical-Oriented)

    • Manage and supervise on-site execution of mechanical works for water infrastructure projects, including pump stations, lift stations, transmission pipelines, reservoirs, and networks.

    • Oversee installation of pumps, piping systems, valves, fittings, mechanical equipment, and Electromechanical interfaces.

    • Coordinate mechanical installation activities to ensure proper testing, commissioning, and handover of systems.

    • Review and verify IFC drawings, shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals related to mechanical and wet-utility works.

    • Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, international standards, and authority requirements.

    • Supervise and witness mechanical testing activities, including:

      • Hydrostatic and pressure testing

      • Leakage testing

      • Flushing and chlorination

      • Mechanical performance testing of pumps and equipment



    • Coordinate with electrical and ICA/SCADA teams for proper integration of mechanical systems.

    • Monitor material delivery, storage, and installation to ensure use of approved mechanical materials without wastage.

    • Support preparation and review of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and mechanical handover documentation.



  • Managerial & Site Coordination duties:

    • Coordinate daily site activities with subcontractors, supervisors, and foremen for mechanical works.

    • Liaise with consultants, client representatives, authorities, and subcontractors to resolve mechanical and technical issues.

    • Monitor construction progress against the approved baseline program and report delays, risks, and corrective actions to the Project Manager.

    • Raise and follow up RFIs, technical queries, and site instructions, proposing practical engineering solutions.

    • Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements, quality standards, and project procedures.

    • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure proper documentation and records are maintained.

    • Coordinate with survey teams to verify alignments, elevations, and as-built data related to pipelines and mechanical installations.

    • Assist in planning and execution of tie-ins, diversions, shutdowns, and commissioning activities in coordination with stakeholders.

    • Coordinate with other infrastructure disciplines (civil, roads, electrical, telecom) to avoid clashes and delays.

    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, including manpower, equipment, and productivity tracking.




Requirements


  • Essential:

    • Education: Bachelor degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Electromechanic Engineering, or equivalent.

    • 7-12 years of experience in project execution/management with at least 3 years proven track record experience in a similar role ideally within one of the leading Infrastructure Companies.

    • PMP or Project Management related Certification.

    • Good knowledge of Primavera Project Management.

    • Fully understand the aspects of project and construction management of complex infrastructure projects.

    • Excellent problem solving, analytical and business intelligence skills.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects adhering to logistics, timescales and deadlines.

    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    • Proficiency in English language.

    • Proficiency in Arabic language.



  • Desirable:

    • Experience of using ERP D 365 to fetch business information is an asset.

    • MBA Degree is an asset.

    • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment is an asset.
