Job summary

Jones Engineering seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer at an intermediate level for Data Centre projects in Dammam. The role involves designing mechanical, public health and fire life safety systems from inception through detailed design, ensuring compliance with local codes and standards.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of construction experience, preferably in data centres, and be proficient in AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Building Services engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in construction projects, data centre or mission-critical preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (CHW, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection).
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Navisworks and Revit for coordination and MTO review.
• Familiarity with Middle East codes is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Fully design mechanical, public health and fire life safety systems from inception to detail design.
• Ensure drawings and specifications comply with local regulations and standards (BS, IEC, NFPA).
• Provide technical input to the BIM team for coordinates and single-line diagrams.
• Lead RFIs with clients/consultants for clarifications.
• Coordinate with the technical director and manage MEP interfaces.
• Perform engineering calculations and reviews to meet standards.

Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer – Intermediate Level

Sector: Data Centre / Mission Critical Projects (preferred)

Location- Dammam- Saudi Arabia

Key Responsibilities

Design & Coordination

• Fully design the mechanical, public health and fire life safety systems from client inception to detailed design (CHW, HVAC, Fire suppression, drainage etc.).
• Ensure all mechanical design drawings and specifications comply with local regulations (KSA/UAE etc), relevant standards (BS, IEC, NFPA), and client requirements.
• Provide technical input to the BIM team during preparation of coordinated drawings and singleline diagrams for all mechanical systems.
• Perform detailed technical review of existing design drawings and calculations.
• Raise and follow up on Requests for Information (RFIs) for any client/consultant clarifications required.
• Liaise with the technical director and present designs and coordinate changes arising from site conditions or MEP interfaces.
• Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
• Leads on the coordination of engineering services
• Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions
• Provide Value Engineering solutions
• Liase with estimation teams during tender phases of projects.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in construction projects (Data Centre or mission-critical project experience highly advantageous).
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, (CHW, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Revit (for coordination and MTO review).
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Middle East codes and standards is an advantage.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
