Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Saudi Arabia seeks a Design Manager - Mechanical to lead the mechanical engineering design function across projects, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to codes, standards and client requirements.

You will oversee multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, process), manage schedules and budgets, mentor engineers, and interface with clients and regulators to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 10–15 years of mechanical design experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Proven experience delivering large hospitality projects (hotels, resorts, entertainment venues).
• Strong knowledge of international codes, standards and best practices.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and managing budgets.
• Proficiency in mechanical design software and related tools.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer is desirable.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical design activities from concept to construction support.
• Develop and review deliverables, calculations, reports, and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process teams.
• Manage schedules, resources, and budgets to meet milestones.
• Conduct design reviews, audits, and value engineering.
• Mentor engineers and designers and provide technical guidance.
• Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulators.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks during design and execution.
• Support procurement through reviewing vendor docs and equipment specs.
• Implement QA/QC procedures within the design process.
• Participate in planning, engineering strategy, and reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement and adoption of best practices.
