Job summary

Atkins Realis Group is seeking a Design Manager - Mechanical to lead the mechanical design function across hospitality projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with codes and standards. You will coordinate with civil, electrical, and process teams and mentor engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive experience in mechanical design, and a track record delivering large-scale hotels or resorts. PE/CEng is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 10–15 years in mechanical engineering design with leadership responsibilities.
• Proven experience delivering large hospitality projects (hotels, resorts, venues).
• Strong knowledge of international codes and industry best practices.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex projects.
• Proficiency in engineering design software and tools.
• Solid understanding of HVAC, piping, utilities and mechanical packages.
• Ability to manage schedules, budgets and technical deliverables.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; mentor teams.
• PE, CEng or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design activities from concept to construction support.
• Develop and review mechanical deliverables, specs, calculations and drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards and client requirements.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation and process teams.
• Manage design schedules, resources and budgets to milestones.
• Conduct technical reviews, audits and value engineering studies.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and performance management.
• Interface with clients, consultants, contractors and regulators.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout design and execution.
• Support procurement by reviewing vendor documents and specs.
• Ensure QA/QC procedures are implemented in design processes.
• Participate in planning, strategy and management reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement and adoption of best practices.
