Junior Project Engineer: Scheduling & Coordination

Job summary

Optimal is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer in Saudi Arabia to support day-to-day operations on active projects and help build a career in project execution. You will follow project progress, prepare schedules, and coordinate with procurement to ensure milestones are met.

You will gain hands-on experience in planning, procurement, delivery, and close-out while collaborating with multiple departments and the sales team on new projects. Fluency in English is required; Arabic is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline.
• 0-1 years of experience; internship or co-op in a project-based or industrial environment is an advantage
• Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with MS Project or similar scheduling tools is an advantage
• Basic understanding of project execution workflow: planning, procurement, delivery, and close-out
• Valid Saudi driving license and willingness to travel to project/client sites preferred
• Fluent English, spoken and written; Arabic is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Follow up on the daily progress of ongoing projects and report status to the project/operations lead.
• Prepare, update, and maintain project schedules and track milestones against plan.
• Coordinate with procurement to raise, follow up on, and close out material and vendor requests.
• Liaise between project, procurement, and other internal departments to keep tasks moving and resolve bottlenecks.
• Support the sales team on new potential projects and customer enquiries: gathering technical information, preparing initial documentation, and coordinating input from procurement or other departments as needed.
• Track project documentation: requests, approvals, deliveries, and handover records.
• Support mobilization and deployment activities for awarded projects, tracking key dates and flagging delays.
• Prepare progress updates, trackers, and simple reports for management review.
• Coordinate site visits and follow-up calls, capturing notes and action items.
• Carry out other day-to-day operational and coordination tasks as assigned by the project/operations lead.
