Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Health and Safety Inspector to join our Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh, focusing on civil engineering and transportation projects such as roads, bridges and tunnels. You will perform daily site inspections, monitor contractor compliance and reinforce the project’s safety program.

You will collaborate with the HSE Manager, discipline supervisors and quality teams to verify controls, investigate incidents and maintain records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Professional HSE certifications are an advantage (NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH).
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, OSHA, NFPA and environmental regulations.
  • Solid understanding of risk assessments, method statements, work permits and emergency response.
  • Proficiency in English; Arabic is a plus.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, teamwork, problem solving and autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of work areas, ensuring compliance with the HSE Plan, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Monitor contractor implementation of permit-to-work systems including confined spaces, hot works and lifting operations.
  • Identify hazards and unsafe practices; issue observations and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Verify proper use, storage and maintenance of PPE by all workers and visitors.
  • Ensure housekeeping, emergency access, signage and site traffic management.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations, gather evidence and document findings.
  • Monitor environmental requirements including waste management, dust control and spill prevention.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, HSE meetings and awareness campaigns.
  • Verify competency and certifications of key personnel such as equipment operators and riggers.
  • Maintain accurate HSE logs and inspection records.

Job description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Inspector to join our Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh. This opportunity lies within our Infrastructure Division and requires specific expertise in working on Civil Engineering and Transportation projects, particularly those involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments.

As an HSE Inspector, you will carry out daily site inspections, monitor contractor compliance, identify unsafe acts/conditions, verify implementation of HSE controls, and support the project’s safety culture. You will coordinate closely with the Contractor, HSE Manager, discipline supervisors, and quality teams to maintain a safe working environment across the project

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Main descriptions of the job position:

  • Conduct daily inspections of work areas, ensuring compliance with the HSE Plan, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Monitor contractor implementation of permit-to-work systems, including confined spaces, hot works, lifting operations, and excavations.
  • Identify potential hazards and unsafe practices; issue safety observations and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Verify that personal protective equipment (PPE) is properly used, stored, and maintained by all workers and visitors.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping, emergency access, signage, and site traffic management at all times.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations, gather evidence, and document findings under the supervision of the HSE Engineer.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental requirements, including waste management, dust control, noise, and spill prevention.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, HSE meetings, and awareness campaigns to reinforce the project’s safety culture.
  • Verify competency and certifications of key personnel, such as equipment operators, riggers, and scaffolders.
  • Maintain accurate and timely HSE logs, inspection reports, observations, and photographic records.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional HSE certifications are an advantage (NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH).
  • Applicable Experience: over 7 years.
  • Strong knowledge of local regulations and international standards (ISO 45001, OSHA, NFPA, environmental regulations).
  • Solid understanding of risk assessments, method statements, work permits, emergency response, and construction safety controls.
  • Proficiency level of English language. Arabic Language is a plus.
  • Report writing skills, social skills, communication, teamwork, problem solving, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.
  • Willingness to work in a multinational environmental firm.

Additional requirements:

  • Transferable Iqama in case non-Saudi.
  • Based in Riyadh.
  • Valid SCE membership.
