Job summary

My Clinic in Saudi Arabia seeks a diabetes educator to provide clinical advice and education to people living with diabetes or at risk. You will support lifestyle changes, nutrition, medication, glucose testing, and self-management.

You will educate on diabetes complications, insulin administration, CGM devices, and interpretation of results, and help patients set and achieve health goals through collaborative care with GPs, endocrinologists, dietitians and other professionals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience in diabetes education and patient lifestyle coaching.
  • Ability to educate patients on insulin therapy and CGM use.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients and families to gain knowledge, skills, motivation, and confidence to manage diabetes.
  • Educate patients on diabetes and its complications and related conditions.
  • Offer guidance on lifestyle changes supporting diabetes management.
  • Provide guidance on insulin therapy, injection technique, and sites.
  • Educate on self-monitoring of blood glucose and result interpretation.
  • Support goal setting and strategies to achieve health goals.
  • Encourage collaboration with other health providers involved in the diabetes care team.
  • Introduce and demonstrate CGM devices and insulin pumps for suitable patients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in diabetes care; monitor and document progress.
  • Perform other professional duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Provide clinical advice and education to people living with, or who are at risk of developing diabetes. Support them on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing, overcoming challenges, and leading their healthiest life possible.

Primary Responsibilities:
Technical:
  • Assisting people with diabetes, their families and care giver to gain the knowledge, skills, motivation and confidence to manage their condition.
  • Educate people on their diabetes, including complications with diabetes and its relation to other health conditions.
  • offer advices and support around lifestyle changes that support diabetes management;
  • Give guidance on medication management safety (actions, timing, side effects) including the use of insulin therapy (e.g. correct injection technique, checking injection sites).
  • Provide education on the self-monitoring of blood glucose levels including technique and interpretation of results.
  • support goal setting and the implementation of strategies to achieve health goals;
  • Encourage collaboration between other health providers involved in the diabetes health care team, such as general practitioners (GPs), specialist medical practitioners (endocrinologists/diabetologists), dietitians, physiotherapists, podiatrists, optometrists, pharmacists and others.
  • Introduction, education, demonstration and installation of Continues Glucose Monitoring devices (CGM) and other devices like (Insulin pump) in patients on multiple daily Insulin injection aiming significant improvement in quality of life.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest information and technology in the field of diabetes
  • Monitor and document patient progress
  • Perform other professional duties as assigned.
Education / Professional Qualifications:

3.2. Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience within a related field.
